I'm sure the Taliban also liked dealing with the US and all their payouts a lot more than they liked the Chinese.

Taliban is far from the worst terrorist group. They seem to generally control things at least, rather than just causing chaos

They’ve seemed to show at least the desire to be the government. I have no issues with them if they clean up the country and become more civilized. That area has been the center for wars forever I hope it can change.

bagram shoulda never been given up. close proximity to iran and chyna and the work put into that thing. it is better and bigger than many international commercial airports.

The Trump team (and rightfully so) always wanted to keep Bagram (and maybe another base or staging area or two) and give the rest of the country back to the Taliban/Afghanistan govmt.
Basically, 'hey, the monsters are still here, but they're behind the gates, so don't frick with us and we won't frick with you'.
You don't give up the most strategic airbase in the eastern hemisphere for nothing like Biden's clone did.
The Iran war is likely going to be major air war because of the rough terrain of Iran, which makes for a very difficult land invasion. So Bagram is an absolute key point and a huge deterrent.
If nothing else, it's a gigantic rattle of the bazooka to refill Bagram with US aircraft and Special Ops and Intel units. Kind of a giant flashing neon sign to everyone else in the area that says 'Play time is over, the boogeyman is back.'

No need to fix anything there. Dont let the troops leave the base. Bring in whatever we need. Bagram is a giant base that can handle any aircraft in the world.

Exactly. They never attacked us. The worst thing they did was provide safe harbor for bin Laden. They even offered to turn him over to a neutral 3rd party.
But GWB / Cheney / Rummy said "Nah, we're going to invade your country instead."
After that, they had no choice other than to fight against us.
Ever since we left, they've not issued any threats that I'm aware of.
