The play there is to hit him with something that also implicates Trump. They feel like they'll have enough Republicans to vote to impeach Hegseth (they need 11 or 12). This will set the stage to impeach Trump for the same shite once they have built momentum and political capital by first impeaching Hegseth.

Huh? How do you figure? They're actually going after Hegseth and you can hear it directly from the insurrectionist folks that their play is to go after him to build momentum and capital to get Trump next. I wrote a thread on it yesterday and I believe that you replied in there with a dismissive, snarky attitude. If you had not done that and had actually read the material and watched the video linked therein you would have seen and heard it in their own words from their own mouths.
This isn't secret spy shite from the Trump side. They want to be able to eventually impeach Trump. So if they can first get 11 or 12 GOP senators to sign off on an impeachment of Hegseth for something that implicates Trump too (the legality of these orders), they will eventually be able to impeach Trump for the same thing and argue "you have already agreed that the orders were illegal."
That's their plan. That's all this is about. And anyone from the right that is jumping on board is working with this group of traitors running this scheme. Thomas Massie, Susie Wiles, etc.

1. They don't need have committed a crime to be impeached.
2. Public intoxication is indeed a "crime" and people within the armed forces are punished severely for it.
