Gaetz will withdraw before he even gets to hearings.
I think we have some strategy at play here from Trump.
He's not stupid. He knows some of these more controversial picks will not get through but he might get a couple. And for the ones that don't, his second pick he may want more than the first.

Only a moderate Republican can win in Maine. Regardless, she is 71 & unlikely to run for another term. The Dems are likely to take over that seat once Collins retires

This is a "smoke them out" selection.
I agree with the other thread, I don't think Gaetz is smart enough to be AG. However, simultaneously, that's not why these people are opposed to him. They are opposed to him because he is aggressively opposed to even the existence of a RINO.
To him they are the enemy within, and he doesn't hide it. To RINOs he is the enemy within and they do their damndest to hide it.
That's why they are opposed to him. He's so aggressive they can't manipulate him.
