A new poll by the Annenberg Public Policy Center revealed that most of you failed civics class in elementary school: Only 36% of Americans could name all three branches of the federal government, while 35% “could not name a single one”.

This is why people should be forced to pass the citizenship test before being allowed to register to vote.

I also found out the neurological reason for foot fetishes yesterday.

As someone who has taught American Government and American History at the high school and college level, the civic education of the general population is a goddamned disgrace.

All the more reason a basic test should be required in order to vote... I'm not talking about some tough, 20 question test, something quick and simple that proves the person knows what they are actually voting for and not blindly pulling the lever.

Name the branches of government
Name the branch in which you are voting each candidate for
Match the candidates stance on the issue with the proper candidate

In high school our football coach just read the civics book to us then we watch a video. I was surprised that in my into to political science class in college how much young people didn't know about the Constitution (yes most of them were liberals).

makes perfect sense to me, nut because of the old literacy test there will never be a test to see if you are informed or not.

This might be good news, cause I was thinking 47%.

I'm guessing we are going to assume that all those ignorant voters voted for Obama?
