What a close minded bigot like this will miss is that arguably one of the most famous early Nintendo games of all time "Metroid" had a female protagonist in 1986.

Yeah, it completely shatters their argument. In fact if every.videogame character got in a battle royale, I'd put my money on Samus being the victor.

No it isn't.

NYT always projects their future wishes and writes like it's today. That's why they always seem so out of touch, agendas are out of touch.

NYT thinks the more they write about a reality that doesn't exist outside of extreme tiny SJW factions and urban libs, the more the mainstream public will see it as mainstream.

Isn't going to happen.

NYT writes deranged liberal fairy tales and tries to pass it off as the new normal.

Read a lot of painful liberal articles the past two days. I don't think I can take it anymore.

Yeah she had to have magic flying powers to be a player worth a frick. Ever notice this about all the girl power movies and tv shows? If the girl is to be a hero she has to have some mysterious magical power like the "Force" to be able to compete with the men

Watching Dark Matter the TV show and it's like that...

I thought the lead was just a badass until she was launched out of an airlock...turns out she's a nano-tech cyborg...

However, there is a normal chick stowaway that the show migrates to as the morality center and she is a normal girl that is slightly techy that occasionally does heroic things...

The dudes are mostly badasses

From the author's bio on his site:

He graduated from Tulane University and the Missouri School of Journalism. He was born in Louisiana, grew up in Kansas, and lives in Rhode Island with his wife and two daughters.

If Metroid were made into a film Gwendoline Christie would have to play her...because the character is 6'4 and over 200 lb.

Samus isn't even really a hero...she's a bounty hunter.

FWIW, the Metroid note is the second highest user-rated comment.

People aren't buying the NYT's insanity

You need to call Nintendo and Brienne of Tarth and get on this. I would pay $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to see that movie.

Brought to you, of course, by the Failing New York Times.

Writers like Chris Sullentrop are a great example of how one genuine idiot can make an entire organization look like idiots.

For every nuanced and meticulously researched article you're supposed to believe, you also have this nonsense, and the same editors approved both.

One word and one word alone destroys the author's premise.

Metroid

Released one year later, Metroid had one of the most badass main characters of all time.

Oh, did we mention that Samus is a woman?

you know i sadly know the feminist response to this

"the patriarchy demanded that the first major female character be completely covered in armor"

Sullentrop is a known commodity to anyone who pays attention to video games.

His analysis is usually hilariously Marxist in general.
