Those stupid people worried about their 401ks and IRAs they rely on to survive.

If today inhibits your ability to survive, you are doing it wrong.

VAT is very different from a tariff
No more than would be the case if foreign countries began to assess corporate income tax on US manufactured goods just as they did on their own manufacturing base.
In fact, the VAT offsets some wouldbe corporate taxes for their domestic industries. Plus it's used to subsidize other elements, which in turn lower manufacturing costs.
So, in the insidious arrangement, US exporters are often left to pay for the whip used in their own flogging.

Well THAT would certainly explain it!
I hadn’t considered the motivation being Americans wanting the markets to collapse.
Sounds like spite or bitterness towards people who have investments in the stock market.

Sad but true
Funny about this is you guys were wrong about Trump.
Not sure why we should listen to people who bitched for four years Trump could never win again.

If you have all of your eggs there, that is dumb. Put some of your money in an annuity with a guaranteed return. All you are risking is a bigger payoff, but you won't lose your principal.

The calculation for the tariffs is asinine and the market is reacting accordingly.
Tell me more about the observed benefits of globalization. I'll be waiting.

The largest generation has 20+ years until they can touch that without penalty.
And unless you are day trading, the market going up and down isn’t really a big deal.
Most of y’all that are bitching probably live mostly off your paycheck. Not the stock market.
And if you are a retired boomer and broke. Tough shite. The market is way up since you were my age.

Instead the numbers are based on the idea trade in goods should be equal while not even considering services
It should be based on goods. Services don't secure independence. You can't build tanks and bombs with a call center. Name some services that the US provides that foreigners can't provide cheaper in their own countries?
Do people in Vietnam call the US for a mortgage? Does China use our accounting services? Does India call the US for door dash? Do our lawyers get hired for cases in Germany?
Tech guys in the East are cheaper than the US, so no one is calling the US for tech support. Customer service has already been shipped out of the country.
Please list all of the services that the US is exporting that makes up for the loss of manufacturing. What's the average salary for a service industry job compared to an autoworker or other manufacturing plant?

Go check and see what the S&P 500 did in the first 3 months of BIden's administration.

Unless you're a degenerate gambler with all your eggs in "the number always go up" basket. They're screwed. Those people are the reason we're in this mess and I have zero pity for them. Time to live within your means. Pull yourselves up by those bootstraps you've been telling us about all these years.
Coming up next will be house prices dropping by 30%-50%. Finally.

Real simple for you simpletons..
End your tariffs...We end our tariffs...
The US economy needed a correction, it always happens. Reagan's economy suffered for his first 2 years, then BOOM.
Trump will correct decades of the US being raped and after 18 or so months, BOOM.
manufacturing will be in US = million of NEW jobs
ENERGY will be cheaper
Goods in USA will be plentiful and cheaper
On and on...

But then it’s not the VAT that discriminates against America; it’s the other policies.

Why? Who would I be with a shaved head and rusty razor blade injury?
Figured as amped as all you guys are, you'd do more than hang out on a message board. Do you think you're doing something important here?
Maybe you should do more than you're doing right now. Get off this board and go make a difference!
Or just stay here and continue being nothing. Cause that's what you all really are. You accomplish nothing here.
