I love it. Maybe they'll understand what the 70s were like. These kids need a little hardship.

I excluded Establishment/GOPE policies. I thought MAGA was against the Establishment. Why would they claim their policy victories?

We are the largest or 2nd largest manufacturing country in the world

We exited the lowest level of manufacturing, for good reasons. You want to return these jobs, for some reason.

He's trying to build a political base by giving them shite from other Americans, aka Leftism.

So Trump's major selling point is...leftist economics? Socialism?

Look you are going to have to come to the realization that when there is a large gap between the haves and have nots this led to national turmoil. You can solve this issue either by tyranny which is the historical standard or American novel standard which is capitalism.

This issue is the federal government has to play a role to promote capitalism. They have to be the umpire that allows the poorest of poor to reach highest incomes and vise versa. But when corporations capture the umpires the playing field gets corrupted and the division of the classes get greater and the system gains more viscosity between income levels.

The irony of not using tariffs properly to make good trade deals and not using antitrust legislation to break up big corporations is IT LEADS TO SOCIALISM.

Literally what MAGA is promoting. They are promoting stripping away freedom from private parties and giving government the role in deciding winners and losers. It's literal socialism.

Own up to it. MAGA economic policies are socialism

Fixed, because that's what you're really saying.

DC sucks, the swamp sucks, all those career politicians are evil. BTW, can you evil shitstains in DC get together and decide which industries you're going to protect? We totally trust you.

Many of us - Christians at the fore - recognize and fear the coming and "engineered collapse" (Cloward-Piven/Alinsky) of the USD, via rampant spending.

Trump still holds the record for largest spending under an admin. Biden may beat it, but Trump currently has the belt.

And you still support him?

quote:

IMO, as a professing Christian (albeit not a top-tier practitioner one), I don't see how we can resist this narrative, given the mandate of Jesus re His Gospel of embracing and caring for "poorest amongst you".

I have long thought that given "a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link", the MO for a successful and prosperous society comes from the top down. Which is exactly what the Transnational Progressives are intending. Our Founders knew that God-given Freedom via our Constitution/Bill of Rights would only work for "a moral and religious" (self-policing) people. I.e., a Spiritual-based people. Even the best of our religious and political 'leaders' are corrupted by their own egoic instincts; so it is not illogical that the "weak links" go to hell as well.

This whole thing is Spiritual, assuming we exist in a Spiritual Universe. Fix the Spirit and the Flesh will prosper. Though I suspect that the "fix" will not come from Humanitie's best intentions or actions, but due to the influence of Evil, said 'fix' will come from a prophesied intervention "but for the elect's sake" (the Elect being people who worship true Love), by Jesus Christ, the appointed Spiritual 'Savior' of Humanity.

So you think Donald Trump is a key figure in a religious movement?

In 2008? No.

In 2008 I was primarily focused on the impending economic collapse due to the housing crisis, thanks to Jersey Tiger, Col Hap, et al.

NOBODY would have confused me for a liberal during those years. That was about the time I was as ancap as I ever got, in fact.

I'm only "fence sitting" b/c people have gone literally nuts and I stayed in reality.

Or you may be overthinking a very basic political phenomena. You know exactly why people like him. You know how precipitously our Institutions are collapsing. You see the cultural tumult. You just erroneously believe that pointing out inconsistencies in his words and deeds is going to matter. But Trump is seen as “ the last best hope” with political and cultural capitulation as the alternative. 70% of Americans are dissatisfied with the direction of the country. Biden is incompetent and corrupt and his administration is arguably the worst in American history. So those who want to fight against architected Decline and post- Constitutional excess have remained loyal. They see The Donald as the way back to an America they recognize.

It’s really fricking simple. American voters aren’t steeped in either policy or political philosophy. But they know their guy when they see him.

Again, in/out group dynamics. The same shite happened with GWB when all these people were pushing for the War on Terror and against dissenters like the Dixie Chicks. LITERALLY the same gameplan, but different policies. Same people.

They are going to flip again in 3-8 years to whichever political group they perceive as their in-group, regardless of the policies promoted.

Whataboutism. I already excluded this in OP. I know MAGA is infested with whataboutism. Nobody is disputing that.
