My daughter in law is from Mexico. She prefers to be called Maria, not hispanic, latina, or whatever. If you do refer to her background, she wants to be called Mexican.

How about we stop using it because it is stupid. That is pretty much my reasoning for not doing (fill in the blank). Because (fill in the blank) is stupid. I don't do stupid. I don't tolerate stupid. I don't celebrate stupid. I don't raise awareness to stupid. I don't recognize my inner stupid. I am not fighting for the liberation of stupid in society. I am not fighting the oppression of stupid. I've come to this rather strange conclusion in this day and age that if something is stupid it is a bad idea. I know I'm an extremist. Sue me, bite me, touch me, heal me.
