Steve Scalise: Every single Louisiana statewide office will be republican at end of 2019

During an appearance in Illinois this week, Scalise took a dig at Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards.
Describing the Louisiana Legislature's flip from Democrat control to GOP, Scalise told a crowd of Illinois Republicans at the state fair in Springfield, "Today we have majorities in the House, in the Senate, and by the end of this year we will have every single statewide elected office as Republican.

I hope he’s right. I also hope we have a governor that wants to do best for LA and doesn’t have national political aspirations.
Looking at you Jindal you frick stick.

Steve always strikes me as a no bullshite straight shooter. If he's saying this with confidence in front of a crowd easily available to the press and more, then that's a good sign for conservative prospects.
It's also quite a stark contrast with the defeatist JBE wins narrative that prevails on some posters.

It's why the ages for Abraham and Rispone at 64 and 70 makes me feel better about their intentions. Less and less chances of hopping to another political position.

Jindal completely soured me and made far more cynical and distrustful of Wonder Boy politicians.
We did nothing to deserve him abandoning our home state of Louisiana after using it as a stepping stone for a presidential run.
Someone should've told Jindal that he needed to take care of business back home before he can credibly run for President. The biggest reason why he failed is that people out of state noticed his approval rating polls and kept asking why they are so terrible.

I haven't seen anything that makes me think JBE is behind at the moment, unfortunately.

So he thinks his party will win, what a burn on JBE. This is like saying LSU player takes dig at Georiga Southern because he thinks LSU will win.

There has not been one single poll publicly available that shows JBE has the necessary 50.1% to win outright in the first round. Not a single one. And he's unlikely to get that number considering the other ankle biting democrats on the ballot may chip off enough percentage points to prevent any chance of 50.1%.
Furthermore, every single poll has had a big number of undecideds. That's not a good thing for incumbents as if they don't like you by now, they never will.

A ton of our “Republicans” are good ole boy Dems in Republican clothing. They are in it to get themselves and their buddies rich,

Steve is not a rah rah frick the democrats, frick libtards barn burner type like so many are on this board.
On personal behavior and how he acts in public, he's pretty damn far from Trump in the GOP.
He's soft spoken and well mannered and if he's saying this, it's because he genuinely believes it.
He would be like Marvin Harrison on the LSU football team.

If JBE was really a Democrat this would actually be true. Unfortunately, JBE is going to win pretty easily

Then why did he support Obama and Hillary and will support a socialist candidate for President next year while continuing to fundraise with baby killers and gun grabbers front the national democrat party?
That's not what conservatives do.

Fair enough. I thought we were talking Rs and Ds though?

I agree that Scalise wasn't trying to take a dig, it's just bad form for the writer to put it in that context.

I like Ralph the best but the problem he has is $$$, or rather the lack thereof. Both Edwards and Rispone have ~$10M each and have already spent over $1M thus far. Ralph has spent less than $1M and has a little over $1M onhand (this is July data so that might be a little outdated).
Ralph needs a really good ad campaign that doesn't have to run often to be memorable in order to hang in with the large warchests Rispone and Edwards have.
The big question is going to be the undecideds. In a 1-1 heat between Edwards and Abrahams, Ralph ties him @ 45%. In a 3-way, Edwards wins because Rispone draws away 8% while undecideds come in at 16%.

just a reminder, New Orleans has had a Democratic Mayor for 147 consecutive years...

Why he is campaigning in Illinois instead of Baton Rouge speaks volumes.
Forgive me if I feel Steve may not be the most informed politician on statewide elections in Louisiana given his focus on Washington.
He could be governor but decided to stay in DC.

Ok, so let's say this happens (it won't).
How many decades of full R control would it take to overturn the decades of ruin the D party has done to LA?
There wouldn't be enough time...
Well, long enough for another D down the road to blame R's for the destruction if it isn't fixed within one term.

Part of me wishes Scalise would run for Governor, but we need him more in the House

So when is the GOP going to turn our state around? They had complete control for 8yrs of Jindal and shite the bed.

He was speaking at a party rally, something members of both parties do in an attempt to get more support for the part in that area.
That you didn't know this, conveniently didn't mention it or didn't bother to read the article to see why he was in Illinois before making your ridiculous comment speaks volumes.
