I agree and if we are to survive as a species it will happen. It's retarded at this point not to all speak one language and have one currency and one objective which is to push mankind forward. I get it. BUT IT WILL NEVER WORK BY FORCE SO THOSE IN POWER CURRENTLY CAN BENEFIT FROM IT THE MOST. This is the part theoretical physicists fall short on with regards to human psyche.

The only time I could see a world government having any significance is if aliens show up and we have a common enemy. Till then the competition between nations is good for innovation

I agree that given the power of future high tech - and it's ability to wreak havoc if employed unwisely - there will surely have to be a form of Universal societal agreement based on a particular Principle(s) which all people can respect and bear allegiance to.

But to think that the current populous - or the Elitist Leaders like Hawkins - can usher in this degree of agreement...is ludicrous. Such can not be 'herding cats' a la Authoritarian Government...nor can it be the kind of fear mongering that is now employed such as the 'Global Warming' meme.

It will require a massive shift in the Visionary Paradigm of Humanity. And that will likely require the kind of 'education' that comes the hard way; and probably a massive die off of highly problematic individuals.

While he is probably right for the long term, our world societies and cultures are way too different for it to work today or any time soon.

Bro, we know what's up. Leftists love Leftist Dictatorship and the bigger the better. So, it makes perfect sense that you and your ilk want to see a World Leftist Government CONTROLLING the entire Planet Earth.

THAT'S why this hysterical unhinged effort to destroy Trump continues. Trump single-handedly threatens to upset your plans.

Some of us know that this is going to happen.

Someone needs to tell Stephen no matter what we do, we're going to be the cause of our own demise, whether it be at the hands of a world gov, AI, or something else.

We could be living under a Nazi world government had WW2 gone a bit differently That wouldn't have been very good. I think though that when most people talk about "world government," they thinking in more idealistic terms. If the real world worked like the Star Trek universe, life would be pretty great.

A one world government could be of a huge benefit to society, but the problem is whether or not it is realistic to assume that the very real differences that still exist between cultures can be easily put aside.

Certain things like discovering intelligent life on other planets could be what ends up bringing humanity together.
