No one who wrote the original Bible was alive during Jesus’s time.
Most estimates have the author of Mark either existing during the life of Jesus or, at the very least, still able to interview primary sources. The rest primarily based their writings off the Q and Mark texts, as well as other assorted writings.

There are literally thousands of surviving first and second century writings which attest to the divinity of Christ.
Give examples.

Yes, you are burdened by your superior intellect that just prevents you from believing in God.
I have news for you. There are Christians in this very thread that are smarter than you. There are Christians in this very thread that have spent a ton more time considering the existence of God than you have.

Well before I do would you like to address your comment that all 4 synoptic gospels DO mention the virgin birth? I would like to know what you’re talking about. Or are we done there?

"Its actually evil. a god would punish someone for not believing in him...yeah free will...believe in me or suffer eternally. so fricking stupid"
Man, you had better be right... for you, everything is riding on this one belief

Point taken, I do tend to conflate spirituality with religion because so much religion is advertised as a guide to spirituality.
But personally I find the best spiritual guidance advisor to be that fellow called Jesus.

I'm not saying that believing in God means your stupid, but I'm extremely confident stupid people are happier than smart people. The more you think the world and universe through, the more you realize how fricked we all are.

He didn't say that.

There are only 3 synoptic gospels. Only two of them have the birth narrative. Mark didn't write about the virgin birth because he was writing to the Romans, mainly about Jesus's role as servant.

The sheer ignorance in this thread is hilarious.

"Come to think of it I don’t think it’s in John either. So half of the gospels didn’t mention something pretty damn important."
It is in John 1, but not explicitly. It refers to the fact that it occurred but doesn't give details as to how.

That's a simpleton's reasoning.

The argument isn’t if Jesus existed or not. Everyone who is slightly knowledgeable about history admits that. The separation is if he was the savior or not. Do some research for yourself. 99 percent of non-believer historians say Jesus walked the earth. They just don’t believe he was God.

And what if Islam is right? How about Scientology? You're gambling in one way or another too.
And I love how you're talking like an enforcer for the mob.

Also the Chinese were much more literate.
Uh Huh.. the Chinese. 5k of "culture" and "knowledge" and they still eat food using 2 sticks...got a bowl of soup? you have to pick up the bowl and dump it in your mouth. The white boy came up with forks and knives and spoons. Not that long ago, another white boy took it to the next level and gave us the spork. Did the "literate" Chinese even notice these advancements? NO.. they still eat with sticks and dump soup into their mouths. Them baws are slooow.

You are right and I did no such thing. I simply stated a fact that everything is riding on this one decision. A man better get it right is all...and that includes me.
