Regarding a pardon, someone will have to effectively make the case that Floyd consumed drugs during the arrest, as it appeared he did, and therefore that Floyd essentially killed himself. Only then might there be a pardon. But when Floyd became incontinent during the affair, the cops should have gotten off of him.
Two points were crystal clear though. (1) the Minneapolis PD was taught to subdue a resisting perp that way because several piled in, and (2) they obviously thought they were doing the right thing as they were being filmed during the episode.

Chauvin needs a serious sentence reduction at least. From what I'm told, Chauvin is in jail not because he strangled Floyd to death, but for not allowing paramedics to administer aid.
Even so, Chauvin seemed to be doing what he was trained to do, and after he swallowed that fistful of pills, Floyd was going to die no matter who did what to him.
