Used footage from then, but didn’t specifically call it the January 6 insurrection. Fortunately not very many people actually watch the trash which poses as Star Trek today.

I think the Lewis Prothero Speech from "V for Vendetta" is more accurate when prognosticating the fate of the USA

Why are people supporting Hollywood by watching this stuff?

If you want a Star Trek show, watch The Orville. If you want a Family Guy show, watch Star Trek Lower Decks. Turns out Seth MacFarlane made the best Star Trek show of the current generation while Paramount has made the animated series that people thought Orville would be.

The Orville is the best Trek out there right now hands down.

This is the correct question. It's one thing if you're in favor of what they are doing in terms of the insertion of left leaning politics into everything. Then it makes sense to patronize them.

But if you don't? Why provide them with the resources they need in order to continue to destroy all of the classic IPs you grew up loving? I realize nostalgia is a strong motivator, but damn.

Let them go.

At this point I am compiling sets of older movies and shows to watch so that they can’t be changed retroactively or “disappeared” if the rights go into limbo or otherwise become an embarrassment to the people involved.

I watch very little new stuff, though I am aware of the general quality and storylines.

OMLandshark had been talking about buying hardcopies of things and I think he's 100% correct. I had been pestering to put together a list of what he had and he posted this a while back:

It's just a video in the midst of other videos. They also showed clips of the BLM/antifa/Dem riots. New Star Trek shows are overwhelmingly woke, but this was not such an instance.

In the clip he's admonishing that world's government for wanting to bomb people over protests.
yeah just watched the clip and this is a pretty big reach. they didn't even mention January 6th.

Why are people constantly searching for things to get offended over?

I have huge hard copy collections and I also have digital ones available for everyday use.

The original intent was to keep what I wanted since a lot of stuff (mainly TV) was out of circulation for years if the show fell out of favor in syndication.

Ex - Wiseguy is a show with a very niche following which I picked up on in syndication after its initial run ended. I went years without being able to find it before one cable channel (A+E?) started showing it and a few DVD sets were released.

And since the rights on stuff like that are always in flux, you have to grab it when it becomes available.

I really wish all these networks would consolidate into one place so you don't need 27 subscriptions just to check out something.

You know what would be cooler than that? If it came over a wire that you plug into this box that sits by your tv, and they could install it on Wednesday some time between 8am and 2pm.

Don't you mean between 8am and August?

I still cant get over the Ozark "writers" portraying a Republican Senator as the perpetrator of rigged voting machines.... with that scumbag Wendy Byrde trying to take the moral high ground.

They must really think we are dumb.

Isn't this the same series that had Fat Abrams as President of the Galaxy?

These people are petty and unimaginitive. The show will fail because they suck at their job. Don't lose any sleep over it. It means we're winning and they know it.

Same. I worked at a video store in college and I always collected movies/music. Sadly, when streaming services started to be ubiquitous, I got rid of a ton of my movie collection figuring I could free up some space. Then the censoring and changing started... I've started going back and grabbing hard copies of things which seem most likely to get the axe first and working from there.

It's set before the original Trek series with the captain they used in the pilot for the original series and some other crew members from that series, like Spock and Uhura. Kirk's brother is also on the crew.

No trannies so far, though I imagine it's only a matter of time.

But oddly enough they called it "a fight for freedom"

This needs to be seen in context. They did say it led to WW3, but also called it "The Fight for Freedom" and "The Eugenics War" (COVID, Bill Gates anyone?) and framed it in that the people fighting for freedom were on the right side, but it ultimately led to WW3.

It was done well IMO, pointing out both sides as the cause. They used it as a moment to say "see, humanity sucked and killed each other over and over but we eventually figured it out" and lead to the next era of enlightenment, and Starfleet, etc.

I knew this entire thread would be people who just read headlines, etc. Because it was not some damning thing for either side. They used that day (rightfully so, tbh) as a day where the divide in humanity was the greatest
and everything stemmed from that moment.

Which, let's be honest, Jan 6th regardless of how you feel about it, was a major moment in US and human history.
