The TV/Movie board will continue to tell us how this is no big deal, there is no political motivation here, and you should stop bring YOUR politics into the theater and ruining the experience.

Star Trek has always been utopian bullshite thanks to Gene Roddenberry’s philosophy.

You can get good storytelling out of it but IMHO you get better storytelling out of a “used future” where there is scarcity. Like ST Deep Space Nine where they are on a former Cardassian station they can’t readily fix and they have to have money to deal with the Ferengi and other races.

A fight for freedom wherever there’s trouble?

Was GI Joe there?

Well, don’t they have Abrams as president of the universe? Yeah hard pass.

Is this the one where Stacy Abrams is featured? Even though they have cured all disease, somehow she is able to be 200lbs overweight?

Star Trek always portrayed Earth as being a utopian society in the future. war, hunger and diseases all solved. humans are more focused on solving problem in other galaxies.

The new Trek series seem to have too much shooting and explosions. JJ Abrams really dumbed down the series.

It's just a video in the midst of other videos. They also showed clips of the BLM/antifa/Dem riots. New Star Trek shows are overwhelmingly woke, but this was not such an instance.

In the clip he's admonishing that world's government for wanting to bomb people over protests.

I really wish all these networks would consolidate into one place so you don't need 27 subscriptions just to check out something.

From is a great show! What channel? EPIX. Huh?
Yeah, it's only $6 per month.

Grew up a tremendous Star Trek fan. Original, movies, Next Gen, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise. Gene Roddenberry was a liberal, but was a good story teller and not preachy. And I always knew it was science fiction.

But Stard Trek Discovery (STD), or as I like to call it “Stupid Tarded Dumb” decided to leave the Roddenberry universe, and make crappy poorly told stories that were mind numbingly libtarded. Also didn’t watch Picard, and will not even try new Trek projects until a trusted friend assures me that it isn’t woke, and poorly written.

Family friend who worked in astrophysics at UCLA was one of the people consulted when they did the JJ Abrams reboot, as they asked questions of that department for some stuff mentioned in the film.

The main bit relayed to me was that they asked the department about the composition of Saturn’s rings for how the Enterprise snuck back into our solar system and were told “Nope, doesn’t work like that” then they did it anyway. Then they did a sneak preview for the department and everyone laughed at that piece of technobabble.

I watched the first two seasons of Discovery. It was awful, but the cast of this new show was definitely the best part.

Picard has its moments, but we stopped watching the new season about 3 episodes in. Just constant leftist talking points.

I watched the premier of this new show yesterday, and so far it does not share the propaganda lean of the other two.

If you want a Star Trek show, watch The Orville.

If you want a Family Guy show, watch Star Trek Lower Decks.

Turns out Seth MacFarlane made the best Star Trek show of the current generation while Paramount has made the animated series that people thought Orville would be.

Star Trek really has gone complete retard lately.

They used to weave social commentary into their storylines. Now its like a shot of Tabasco to the eye. While this doesn't seem as hamfisted as the 2nd season of Picard, its just ridiculous.

Respectfully, there's ZERO chance that it won't. That's not my hope, that's me listening to them when they tell us what their interest is in creating content now. they are 100% beholden to The Message at this point, and fulfilling quotas and checking diversity, inclusion and equity boxes are far more important to them than story telling.

None of this is my opinion. Every studio has made public their quota goals in this regard. It's up to individuals to decide if they case about that either way, but to ignore it's what they're purposefully doing makes no sense to me.

yep. She goes to Davos and Bilderberg. She's depicted as world president in Star Trek. She's clearly the chosen communist puppet dictator of the future.

I think their reasoning is “Trump made a name for himself in the media with The Apprentice so we can make one for Abrams.”

Still doesn’t change the shite each side is selling.

Trump won because he promised what people wanted and did his best to deliver.

The gap toothed bitch can only promise payouts for mules.

I'm inclined to agree, but the show runner is saying all the right things so we'll see how it plays out. Trying to equate modern politics to the future never plays well in these shows though.

ETA: To be fair, it never plays well in any shows.
