Eddie could change his tune on St. George if it means he could get a bigger chunk of the BR vote.

You can bet your arse that if the St. George vote had failed by a single vote, these same jerks would fight tooth and nail to convince us that it was a fair and honest election and that the "people" had their say. Damn hypocrites!

So waiting until there is a St. George would require, literally, twice the time and effort, IF, what those residents really want is to be annexed into BR.

Understood.

Others have said their ultimate goal is NOT this, but rather, to remain unincorp.

THAT is what we are discussing at the moment, and thus, the posts.

We are talking about multiple things in this thread, some new, some not.

To the best of my knowledge. I haven’t seen a groundswell of support saying they want in BR.

You won't. You will see the The Advocate and BR Business Report run with any solo Next Door or Facebook magnet mom and make it seem like everyone wants out of St. George.

Using SOS stats/results:

In April 2018, 26.4k total votes (11.5% turnout of those who could vote) was apparently enough to renew 10 years of taxes for school facilities in EBR

In November 2017, 25.5k total votes (14% turnout of those who could vote) was apparently enough to impose a 2% hotel tax

In April 2017, 15.5k total votes (5.3% turnout of those who could vote) was apparently enough to renew 10 years of taxes for schools in EBR

and, of course, we all know that 2100 votes was apparently more than sufficient to give the thieves at Council on Aging a shitton of $$$$ in November 2016 - that was w/ turnout of 67.8% the year of a presidential election.

in other words...

frick
dem

Hahaha. I love the anti-St. George crowd going on record on all this.

SWB is against raising taxes and BR will apparently not have to raise them again only St. George.

If you don't like the results of an election and you lose by 2k then it doesn't even count.

Uhh, last time I checked, 46% percent is less than half. And by enough to make a difference.

So you're suggesting there should have been a super majority to approve St. George? Even if the vote was 51-49, 49 still loses.

46% that actually voted. There were a lot that didn't care to vote and was fine with whatever outcome won. I highly doubt 100% of the 46% is going to waste their time on it. Anything less is such a small number of people for St. George and BR.

You think the NBR crowd or the blue bloods in the Garden District are really that fickle? Get use to it, you're supporting a hardcore St. Georgian for Governor

One vote, you bet your arse. over 2500 votes...that's a clear message. Get over it. In the end, SG is here to stay.
