Republican State Senator Gerald Long was one of the votes against Martiny’s bill. His greatest fear is that gambling expansion sends the wrong message.

“I think the question is whether or not we’re going to open Pandora’s box on all forms of gambling. It appears to me that this is the door opener,” Long said.

Explain to me why it matters to the government?
Let the people have freedom and choose how they want to live their life!

What else is there gambling-wise that he fears could come through with this?

So you can stumble your drunk arse to a video poker machine in every piece of shite bar in the state but you can't bet on sports? Makes perfect sense.

Yeah, because we don't already have racetracks and casinos.

Why generate legit revenue when you can steal it from your residents?

Someone ought to tell Gerald that Louisiana ALREADY has all forms of gambling. In fact, he can actually see where the gambling takes place from the top floor of the Capitol.

That said, Louisiana will have sports betting soon enough. The legislature just hasn't completed the bribe process yet.

And I bet this dip shite spends most of his time preaching to constituents about the evils of big government. What a fricking hypocrite.

Zach does not gamble. Never has. But I do have some thoughts on it:

1. I am very much in favor of the lottery. It's a tax on the stupid.

2. I know lots of people who have worked in Casinos. They don't gamble. Their reason: "I understand math."

3. The Fan Dual type gaming is dominated by 1% of the players who do not have another job. It is their profession. If you're not one of them you will lose.

Carry on.
