clearly this has been in the works for a while, or at least the concept has been. Its unfortunate because the Song of the South is actually a very good movie

It's been in the works since 1947, when the first protests were organized outside movie theaters. The idea that this film is racist is not new by any stretch of the imagination.

Gonna be amazing to see the "Mountains" of New Orleans and Louisiana come to life in the ride. When people think NOLA, I know, Mountains are the first thing that come to mind!

I love princess and the frog. But I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen any mountains in south Louisiana.

Can’t wait till they tear down the USA pavilion in EPCOT and replace it with Kenya. I wonder what kind of booze I’ll be able to get there.

A lot of the characters and music are from the movie that makes slavery seem like a fun time.

You've seen the movie? Which parts make it seem slavery was a fun time, specifically?

I’ve definitely pointed out the lack of black characters before

I suppose you didn't notice the lack of HUMAN characters in splash mountain, since it's a story about a rabbit outfooling a fox and bear.

It’ll be cool having a New Orleans themed ride there.

Will the statues you tear down be virtual, or animatronic?

There are no slaves in the movie.

Plus, I go to Disney every year, and I’ve definitely pointed out the lack of black characters before.

The irony here being that they're not adding any new "black character" rides. They're replacing one with another.

I love "The Princess & the Frog," but they should have given it a new ride, not replaced Splash Mountain.

Song of the South isn't racist in an overt, explicit way. It doesn't use the N-word or openly state that black people are genetically inferior.

Would you consider it anti-Semitic to make a movie depicting how much fun a Jewish family in Germany is having on a vacation to their attic in 1943, and never reference any negative action by the Nazis? When you remove all context, it creates a very skewed picture.

I guess the world is forgetting about Walt Disney being a big old racist and especially an anti-semite
