‘SPAMOUFLAGE’ – Chinese Bots Posing as Trump Backers to Help Biden Win 2024

The Chinese government has harnessed a massive network of social media accounts to influence the November U.S. presidential election. Independent researchers and government officials say they’ve identified numerous accounts controlled by China, most of which are currently posing as supporters of former President Donald Trump. These accounts often amplify conspiratorial content, such as claims that President Joe Biden is a “Satanist pedophile,” in an effort to spread discord and discredit the MAGA movement.
According to Elise Thomas, a senior analyst at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, the network of Chinese government-controlled accounts is likely part of a long-standing Communist Party program called ‘Spamouflage.’ However, the volume of content being pushed by fake social media accounts is unprecedented. “I’ve never seen anything along those lines at all before,” Thomas said in a recent interview. She also noted that several accounts had previously posted exclusively in Mandarin Chinese before being retooled to appear as though the user is American.
These actions underscore a potential change in Beijing’s approach to impacting U.S. politics, with an increased willingness to undermine individual candidates and parties. Unlike past efforts, it appears an actual human controls each account. Previously, the Chinese government utilized bot networks to run thousands of social media accounts and push pro-Chinese Communist Party (CCP) propaganda.Despite pledges from Meta to address the fake Chinese-controlled accounts on Facebook and Instagram, the CCP propaganda operation appears to continue unabated.
An investigation by The Foundation for Defense of Democracies found that at least 3,000 accounts linked to a Facebook page called War of Somethings are part of the Chinese influence and propaganda operation. Max Lesser, a senior analyst with the foundation, told the New York Times: “What we’re seeing is the campaign just continues, undeterred.”

The NYTimes piece is essentially admitting that the 'Biden is a satanist pedo.' stuff is the CCP's or is it American intel communities LARP?
Then it is convoluted to say the CCP wants Trump or the CCP is making MAGA look bad to favor Biden---- in the MSM aggragating of the NYTimes story...OUR GOVT "officials" are warning? The same govt officials that all the spy chiefs lied about Russian disinfo?

Covert Chinese accounts are masquerading online as American supporters of former President Donald J. Trump, promoting conspiracy theories, stoking domestic divisions and attacking President Biden ahead of the election in November, according to researchers and government officials.

The effort has more successfully attracted actual users’ attention and become more difficult for researchers to identify than previous Chinese efforts to influence public opinion in the United States. Though researchers say the overall political tilt of the campaign remains unclear, it has raised the possibility that China’s government is calculating that a second Trump presidency, despite his sometimes hostile statements against the country, might be preferable to a second Biden term.
China’s activity has already raised alarms inside the American government.
In February, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence reported that China was expanding its influence campaigns to “sow doubts about U.S. leadership, undermine democracy and extend Beijing’s influence.” The report expressed concern that Beijing could use increasingly sophisticated methods to try to influence the American election “to sideline critics of China.”

How do you read that and 1) give it any credibility 2) conclude that it’s only impacting one candidate and not the other 3) sound some weird alarm bells 4) act all shocked that social media is being used in a problematic way.
You weirdo alarmist are going to die of a fricking heart attack.

Did the CCP write Ashley Biden’s diary?

Liberal boomers will lap this up like a cold kitten beside a bowl of warm cream.

I am sure Biden will come out and denounce Chinese efforts to help him get elected.

I've been trying to explain this concept to people for years - since online influence took hold.
If you're on side A, you flood the zone with all kinds of stupid bullshite attacking your own side. It makes the people on side B look foolish and if anyone on side B raises a legitimate concern/accusation, it gets lumped in with the nonsense and lost in the noise.
Most of the extreme stuff is promoted by them so you'll latch onto it, look stupid, and lose credibility for doing so. After that, you could solve the JFK assassination and nobody is going to listen to you.

Russia Collusion says Hi.
You cant have it both ways, Prog. Whether you believe it or not - libs don't get the luxury of trying to tear down an entire presidency over one absurd lie, while dismissing the other out of sheer hypocrisy and political convenience.
