Space Jam 2 lost a ton of money and was an unprofitable film

If you look at the Wikipedia page, it LIES, saying that the film made $187M on a $150M budget. Looking into those numbers, $120M came from mexico, and they incorrectly added $120M USD instead of $120M Mexican pesos which is what it actually earned at the box office. $120M Pesos = $6M dollars. Therefore Space Jam 2 actually made
$187M - $120M + $6M = $73M on a $150M budget, or it lost $77 million dollars (1/2 its budget)
Just an example of WIkipedia and IMDB printing deliberately false information to push a narrative that this movie is more popular than it actually is. Wokeism is incredibly unpopular and costly, a fact they always try to hide and lie about

Politics and business are never a good combination.

Even before you get to blame it on casting a douche nozzle to star, you have to admit that Hollywood is slap out of original ideas for movies. Everything these days is a remake, a sequel, a prequel, or a previously made movie with the characters' names and location changed.
Can anyone seriously believe that Space Jam 2 was ever going to make back any of the money spent to produce it?

Heard his wife's boyfriend bought him a ticket to go see it and he cried at the ending.

Hollywood has placed itself in this strange juxtaposition of trying to make money off of the past while simultaneously ruining it and disenfranchising people who enjoyed the past.

It has nothing to do with 'wokeism' or a lack of it.
Some of you guys are slightly delusional.
It was a bad film with a basketball player who nobody outside of America really goes crazy for. Nobody wanted to see it because a) the people who it would have appealed to as kids are too old for it b) kids haven't grown up on these looney tunes characters post-2000.
Looney tunes seems like something kids in the 90s and before grew up on. But a kid born after 2000 probably could care very little about those characters.
You could stick as much wokeism into something like Jurassic park as you wanted and it would still make a massive profit.

Why lie about it to the public? The people with skin in the game, actors, producers, etc. know exactly how well it did. Its not like I would ever be curious enough to check on this movies earnings.

Please please, don't even mention that precious movie in 2021.

Bad product, poor revenue.
That's how it works.

A feature of the Hegelian dialectic, a favorite of the Marxists. Aufhaben means “destroy but keep.” Like they’ve done with marriage. Or the United States.

LeBron is the most popular basketball player in the world. What are you talking about?

And there is nothing wrong with that if it is done in a creative way. Before this COVID-1984 sh*+-show, I got hooked on Cobra-Kai, a sequel to the Karate Kid films.
I had extremely low expectations for the series but because it came so highly recommended from a few buds on the old shuttered Auburn poliboard, I gave it a try. And what a surprise: the series (the first season at least) was fresh and smartly written with nuanced performances by the actors.
The problem here is much of the most heavily promoted products coming out of Hollywood are little more than progressive propaganda being promoted as a “reimagining” of a franchise or character. I don’t care to see a “transgender” Joenetta Friday on Dragnet, thank you very much.
