?? Ro Khanna just posted another “Medicare for All saves $1 trillion” post.
The “Yale study” he’s citing is a non-peer-reviewed preprint written by Alison Galvani, the same researcher who previously advised Bernie Sanders on the bill.
This is not analysis. It’s fan fiction

Ro believes if done right it’ll work this time

The Yale study doesn’t prove Medicare for All will save $1 trillion—it is a model projection, not an observed result, and it depends heavily on ambitious estimates and assumptions. It is has not yet been peer reviewed. It assumes very large cuts in payments to doctors and hospitals.
A major source of savings comes from paying doctors and hospitals at or near Medicare rates, which are generally below commercial insurance rates. The Yale researchers themselves acknowledge that their analysis does not model how providers would respond—meaning, would they drop patients or drop out altogether.
Lower payments will create hospital financial problems, doctor shortages, and service cuts. There will be pressure to raise taxes or pressure to raise the politically feasible payment rates—reducing the projected savings.

Everybody covered.
Less expensive.
Better pay for providers.
Only way that's feasible is to kill of 20% of the population.

Canada saved a lot by introducing rationing, but the people who really need treatment say, "My dogs and cats get better care."

We already have Boutique doctor service. The Govt can do as it pleases, all my life I’ve spent less than I earned. I’ll pay for Services above the socialist level.
Tons of people don’t have health care insurance and have other items just as expensive or greater.

It would also mean better pay for doctors, nurses, and healthcare providers.

I imagine the slippery slope doesn't end at boutique vs government service... should these asshats get their wish, there won't be boutique medical services.
Maybe you'll have some doctors running under the radar, but hospitals, specialty clinics, urgent cares, surgery centers... will all be more regulated.

The government couldn't run a snowball stand without going into debt. But, yeah, let's let them run the entirety of our healthcare.
You want grandma pushed off a cliff.... that is the way.

Yep. And it’s never gonna happen even if the votes and support are there. Overhauling and converting and currently extremely complex system would be an incredibly, incredibly massive nightmare. On top of that, dealing with each state’s issues, laws, regulations, etc.
And I think most politicians that push this idea know this, but boy, it sure does sound good to the voters, doesn’t it!!??

I can see how that's possible. For example, let's say you drive your car back and forth to work, to run errands and then take weekend trips. With all that your gasoline bill for the month is $500. Cut out the weekend trips and save $100. 20% reduction. Easy, peasy.
Same with health care. Reduce and/or delay services and there you have it.
