Its to the point where I don't know if any member of the GOP can get 217 votes.

At least 5 of them will be attention whores regardless of who the nominee is.

He's probably the most conservative member of LA's congressional delegation.

He's a smart guy.

Mike Johnson. He represents LA-4 (mostly NW and West-Central LA, though his district also includes Opelousas, etc.).

Guess we have to vote for Jeffries then, right?

If they can't figure this out and support a conservative candidate, why should we vote for any of them?

You shouldn't. Vote them out and put America-first people in charge. This country needs an attitude adjustment.

Just go without a speaker until this illegitimate cluster fuk of a admin. is over. At least they cannot pass more spending.

He’s the compromise candidate.

He’s better than McCarthy, a lot better than Emmer, not as good as Jordan, a little better than Scalise. How politically skilled he is at Speaker or being a leader, who knows. I think he’s a little new and open and unknown and the GOPe may think they can control/influence him while MAGA may think they can work with him.

McCarthy sucked to begin with.

Tried to put in mostly more of the same, slight nudge to better…Scalise wasn’t enough of a change.

MAGA move…Jordan was too MAGA.

GOPe counter power play…Emmer was too GOPe.

Compromise…Johnson.

we can have nice things? I hope he is very wealthy, or at least comfortable so he can't be bought. Does he have several lakehouses (camps?) Nice Bern sports cars?

BTW did you see Bern's wife's business took campaign money?

I've heard him in the House/canned soundbites and he talks the part, but as we know that doesn't mean much - even McCarthy sounds good at times. But I'm encouraged by what you and a few others have posted about him.
