They view interracial relationships as abnormal. What they say is "I don't have a problem with interracial relationships but (insert objection to interracial relationships here.)"

Discussing the inexplicable curiosity that every second or third ad out of 5 or 6 would be biracial couples, is not a “trigger,” or “a melt.”

No. People correctly recognize that interracial couples are vastly over represented on TV commercials. Do you want to refute that?

Once again we have another major company trying to sell a "feeling" instead of their actual product. I used to go to sonic for a quick lunch about 3 or 4 times a year. Last two times I noticed that the cheeseburger had dropped in quality. After that said no more,if I'm going to eat I want good quality food. If a business has a truly good quality product I would not care if they used trisuexal bi- racial rats advertising for them.

Check out an episode of pretty much any show on ABC. Casting in general has jumped the shark in the last few years.

Animals with the ability to talk are vastly over represented in tv commercials. Why do interracial couples bother you so much?

No one has objected to interracial relationships. We’re objecting to the forced over saturation and manner in which they’re presented.
They in no way reflect real life and you know it. You don’t care because you’re black

Why do you people continue to think that a person has to be “bothered” or “triggered” or “melting” to notice, and comment on the phenomenon? Since you brought it up, are you “bothered” by talking animals?

I generally find them annoying, yes. So how do you feel when you see two interracial couple commercials in a row?
Posted on 3/13/21 at 12:29 pm to PiscesTiger
At least it’s not her husband in the back seat

I feel like there will be at least two more before the half hour.

What an odd thing to keep track of. Can’t be good for your blood pressure.

What is that, exactly?
Please tell me.
Because I'm not seeing the horror in my kids seeing a proliferation of parental units onscreen that are similar to what they see in my house every day. Not to mention many of their friends'.

That's what gets me. I'll see people say they don't have a problem with it, then say they are seeing it too much. For crying out loud, I'm IN one, and I don't pay half the attention to the racial makeup of couples in ads that some of these folks do. shite is wild.

The BBC has been doing the stuff with their ads and their TV shows for decades now.
It appears that we are getting the same sort of messaging with our programming as the government controlled BBC

The one in your house is the only one that matters. It’s based on love, and it works. Your kids shouldn’t need any more reinforcement than that.

Where did I say they needed more reinforcement? I never intimated a need. I'm talking about the pearl-clutching itt about the apparent societal horrors of seeing too many interracial parents/couples in ads. The train of reasoning is ridiculous.

Do you feel the same way about all the pearl-clutching surrounding gay couples (for example) in advertising? In particular that their portrayal is also not a matter of great import?
I suspect that those ads do not bother you much either.

Yes. Marketing was my field at TAMU, actually. Seeing more gay couples portrayed in advertising as their issues became more culturally mainstream just seemed a natural progression to me, honestly.
