How in the frick do you presume to know that for all colleges and all degrees?

Stating that all degree paths have classes with assignments shouldn't be some shocking commentary on our educational system.

What? No.

He's not really wroing, and it depends on the test given and who's doing the measurement.

In general, he's provided the perfect definition of "intelligence."

One of my favorite stories is Baudrillard (or some famous French intellectual) doing a speech and book signing somewhere, and a young guy kind of waits to be last to go up and speak to him... and he asks him "How can I become intelligent?" And Baudrillard asks him "Why do you doubt your intellgence?" and the young guy says "I listen to and read people like you and I realize that there is so much that I do not know!" And Baudrillard smiles and says "Oh, my dear boy... that feeling... THAT IS INTELLIGENCE!!! An unintelligent person has never known that feeling a day in their lives!"

Do you realize how much various Asian countries have "caught up" once Western values and industrialism were presented to them? We developed this culture over like 400 years. They adopted it in 40.

Thank you for further adding to my point

Um. Yes.

It assesses cognitive abilities and intellectual potential, i.e., your ability to learn.

Ability to analyze.

People with lower IQs with better memory, have as much/more ability to learn.

Unless you mean learn complex concepts, but that goes back to the ability to analyze, ultimately.

a 4-year degree?

I think this could greatly depend on the university. We know students can be moved through even when they shouldn't be.

Dollar to a dime, you have never taken a real IQ test, and have no idea what your score is, or what these numbers mean.

So someone with a mathematics degree didn't learn anything?
I got one in Applied Mathematics in 2004, but wouldn't say it was hard. Also wouldn't say that I learned all that much that is useful in life. Got another degree in Infromation Technology and a Masters in Computer Network Security. I work with dozens of engineers that aren't smart enough to get in out of the rain.

I had not heard that, but it's a great anecdote (even if apocryphal). i had heard a similar one by Mauriac

The highest sign of intelligence is doubt.

By who?

She has a law degree... she had to pass the Bar Exam. Nevermind... I know the replies...

Meanwhile you will defend Lauren Boebert, who couldn't finish high school...

This isn't true. Even if you're talking about "art" or something, they're given assignments where they have to create certain things, in certain ways.

Pure creativity isn't going to solve that problem, without the analytical ability to understand the parameters involved and how to achieve the goal.

Spewing random creativity is not going to do anything for that student.

Understanding why other people are having dun doing the assignment isn't going to do anything for that student.

Being popular with the people who are capable of doing that assignment isn't going to do anything for that student

Dude, it is ok if you didn't know there were four other tests to test other aspects of the brain and how it works in regards to intellect. You could have just typed "Man, I didn't know that. Thanks for pointing it out". Of course that isn't what happened. Just like always, the professional arguer came out and you typed all that nonsense. Just stop dude. You and I aren't on a phone call where you have to bleed to last five minutes for billing purposes. Just take that time and read about the other testing for brain quotients.

Then I would be lying.

Y'all are way over-selling what a 75-85 IQ is, and ignoring how extremely deficient that low of an IQ is for day to day purposes, let alone in a college setting.

This is why Duke medicine just got in all kinds of trouble with the Trump administration, RFK in particular, for allowing people in the med school under DEI rules. They are dumbing down medicine with these 80 IQ persons and we're all gonna pay the price.

Your IQ is lower than Kamala’s if you believe that.

Just note I did edit it to 75-85 b/c the initial post was wrong.

Why y'all? Because this was the comment that started this digression:

quote:

There are a ton of people walking around with an IQ between 75 and 85 that seem normal. They have jobs, they have kids, some of them have college degrees

Those people can have insanely high creativity, EQ, or SI and will still have problems graduating college, even in a "soft" degree path like art.
