I havent been keeping up with it because it is bullshite, and like bullshite I figure it would have been stopped by now. yet little by little the Democrats coup seen to be taking root and the republicans are doing little to stop it.

ARe they going to take power away from the White House and make all the decisions thorough the House itself?

Cocaine Mitch has a nuclear button to blow it all up. He is only letting it move forward because at this point it's poison for the Dems as polls are showing that the general public already has impeachment fatigue. It's hurting the Dems more than Teflon Don.

67 Senators (2/3 of the Senate) must vote in favor of conviction for the President to be removed. That won't happen, and Trump will remain President. Bottomline.

The real question is how all of this will impact voters in the election.

The only reason why the House is still involved is because some of the House members are presenting their case to the Senate.

This. The House's responsibilities in this are finished, but a select group of House members (chosen by Pelosi) basically serve as prosecutors, arguing the case for impeachment to the senators (who are like jurors).

Impeachment is not a coup. Impeachment is a Constitutional process. Yes, there is no chance of getting 67 Senators to vote Guilty, but the trial should go on because that's what the Constitution mandates.

I'm curious to see if schumer enters an amendment for a secret vote. Legally, he could, and if 51 senators vote yes, they could impeach him in secret. I would. Ot be surprised if democrats could whip 20 senators to impeach if their votes would not be disclosed.

It's a nuclear option that I don't think would happen, but it's lurking out there.

There is no effective way to "have been stopped by now". Once the House impeached and submitted the impeachment to the Senate, the dog and pony show is initiated. There is ZERO chance of this ending in removal. The show will go on. The Senate will acquit. The D's will wail and gnash their (false) teeth. And, it will mean nothing

Yeah, that is possible. However, if Trump were removed in that fashion, conflict and unrest will ensue. Democrats probably don't care about that, though.

Really, the whole system fails if this happens. The American people can't hold their Senator accountable for their votes, and in that, our republican form of government fails.

If there is a secret vote to impeach a President, America is finished.

We have a problem Georgie Baw...this Shampeachment originates from an inept Dim political strategy. Rather than accept the 2016 GE loss, move on and prepare for 2020 the Dims went full retard with this Shampeachment BS because they know they can't beat Trump. Impeachment was never intended to be used for righting a perceived wrong (losing an election) but that's the new precedent the Dims have set.

Would be hilarious if there were a secret vote and the majority of Dems voted against the House impeachment. As it is, the divide is so severe that Dem senators are afraid to go against their party line.

Not to mention that none of the charges are impeachable based on the constitution that I am aware of.

Yeah. When you completely circumvent the due process As outlined in the Constitution in order to have your impeachment, that’s a coup.

Chosen by Pelosi?

How is that different from “hand-picked”? ‘Cause I was under the impression that “hand-picked” = bad
