This isn’t new information. I’ve always assumed I’d never see a dime of money they took from my check to “save” for me. They will start with phasing out benefits for anyone with assets over “xyz” and it will eventually become another safety net for those who likely paid little into the system.

Yet, the Democrats continue to spend trillions that we don't have driving up inflation which will eventually drive up interests rates that the government will have to pay to service its debt. At this rate, I will be surprised if the "Trust Fun" can be sustained until 2034.

frick this gay corrupt country.
If you put 7 or 15% of your income into a stock index every year, it would be more than enough to retire in comfort. The same amount going into SS, is like bailing a boat with a sieve.
If SS was a private pension plan, the managers would go to jail.

It wasn't for nothing. Boomers got to ride out retirement life in style on your dime. Doesn't that account for something?

put back in the money they have taken out for whatever they used it for would be a start.

Haha, they didn't put my pension fund's managers in jail... They kept their jobs and got fricking handsome raises.

Yes, boomers paid SS but they also got/are getting benefits in full. The point is that those behind them may not.

I loathe the Democrat Party as much as anyone on this board but on spending the GOP is probably 95% as bad as the Dems.

If need be, they’ll just borrow and print more money.
I am truly starting to believe its like one central banker said a year or so ago that the debt is just numbers on a computer screen. It can be deleted with a press of a button. This world has passed me by.

Just print more money, that’s what we do for everything else.
Posted on 9/5/21 at 6:25 pm to Auburn1968
Good thing I plan to be dead by then.

The concept of “retirement security” being iffy is the one thing that makes me hopeful that they’ll keep their hands off Roth assets and not change too much the rules on current retirement plans. I mean, I’ll almost certainly be wrong. But there’s a glimmer of hope that they realize private citizens are better at their own financial security and won’t frick it up.

Bet they make Roth’s taxable so they can get your money anyway.
