Social security is socialism

You did nothing but pay the government.

If they took that social security money and put it all into an S&P index fund instead of wasting it, Americans would most likely be able to live off that social security income by the time they can get it.

Sure they did. And the money they paid went to pay for someone else's benefits, just like their benefits are being paid by someone else. Just like any welfare.

Tell me this: SS taxes started being collected in 1937. The first payouts started in 1940.

Were those payouts from the money that the people who collected them paid into the system over a whopping period of three years?

Or were they paid by people paying in who weren't yet eleigible?

If you wrap your mind around that, you see that it has always worked that way, regardless of whether Congress took money out of the fund or not.

It's welfare/an entitlement and it always has been, and the SCOTUS even said it was.

I can remember sitting around the camp fires in the mid seventies and the older men telling my dad this. He he is now 84 still drawing his SS.

Functioning society of hundreds of millions of people requires some level of social net to operate when its citizens age out of employable functionality.
