Don't worry, they'll disband it a few years before you retire and you won't have to worry about.

Probably not, they’ll just raise the ages for taking it, and more people will die before they ever get a dime. Most people taking it today will likely not even get what they paid and what the employer paid on their behalf, not including the interest it would have earned had Congress not stolen it for other purposes for which it was not intended.

I've assumed since I was 19 that there would be no SS payout for me when I retired, and I planned accordingly.

They take your social security taxes and invest it in rock solid government treasuries. What could go wrong? It's almost like a locked box.

Smart. Always do this especially when someone says they're going to give you something for free.

And what about the current retirees that paid into SS all our working life? Should we not at least get back some of what we paid in?

You and I have two radically different definitions of welfare. To me.Welfare is people sitting on their arse and getting paid having done nothing. The current recipients may have paid in less when they were working, making less, but they didn't pay in nothing

I mean technically in the sense that your dollars don't directly pay yourself, but by that definition pretty much all government disbursements would fall under "welfare", including tax credits.

The hell there isn't. There's a fund, and I own a big chunk of it, and your Yankee government owes it a shitload of money. Pay up, bitch.

Negative storm trooper. If the recipient pay’s in more than they receive it is by definition not welfare.

If you were in prison and you loaned another inmate money, and he failed to pay, would you be OK with it because you'd just assumed it was a gift? Or would you ruthlessly exploit the deadbeat until he regretted his own existence? There's a right answer there.

No, no, this is a fundamental misunderstanding. I want it all.

If the fed bounces up in a few years with a 25% reduction in payments, that means it’ll take 1/3 longer for them to pay me off.
