You don’t need insurance to get healthcare.

I didn't read the thread, but I can tell you that abuse is the reason that we cannot have healthcare for all.

If you talk to any honest ambulance personnel, they will tell you about the sorry arse people that use the ambulance for one leg of their prescription/doctor errand. $8 for a taxi to the doctor or a free ride to the hospital is an easy decision for a sorry pos.

Talk to a pharmacist about the abuse that they see. Sorry arse people are always trying to turn a non cash benefit into a cash benefit.

Low class, low intelligence, sorry pieces of shits is why we can't have nice things.

If you want to live, put forth some fricking effort. Take care of your own arse, put yourself in a position to get the best deal. Don't ask me to pay for your healthcare, when the only physical exercise that you get, is opening a new box of little debbies, or weighing out some dope.

This isn’t an “alternative”. It’s a Pandora’s box, that can NEVER be closed once it’s been opened.

While I am no advocate for socialism, there is a place for a 2-tiered health care model.

One that is privately funded through insurance and out of pocket and a free charity system run by nonprofits and government funding.

Ironically, that was how most health care was done in Louisiana up until 2000’s.

The USA should definitely provide free healthcare to as many people on Earth possible. The USA should set up "US Healthcare Outreach Airports" across the globe in every country. That way anybody who wants an operation of any kind can catch a US military aircraft and be flown to a US hospital for treatment.

Then once these good folks have recovered, give them the choice to either be flown home at no expense to them OR to reside here in the USA.

My virtue signalling cannot be topped.

Oh I know the difference and I get great healthcare under the insurance system.

Under your universal system it would degrade immensely. Which is egregiously stupid for anyone to pine for.

He’d rather make you wait a few weeks to see your primary care doc, then a few months to se a specialist, a couple more months to do some test, then have to wait another 6 months for your surgery.

But hey, it’s freeeeeeeeeee

failing at defending the current system of insurance

congress permits by statute for blue cross to take more than twice off the top what meficare can use to run their operation.

No one can defend that use of our money once they get past that the nation as a whole is how you measure costs.

It already costs more to use the for profit system.

As engineering problem its obvious you have slack in the system that can either reduce cost or improve service levels in Medicare.

What little opposition there is to a govt system is based on guys wanting to pay off medical school off your backs.

Big pharma brags on research but research does not address or take into account when a company buys a company for its product thats already been invented and multiplies cost to you from $15 to $700 for epi pens.

No.one defends that well.

There are real issues with change. We already dont have enough providers.

Id like to see it not be a monopoly.
Just expand medicare by age down to 55.
In 5 years drop it another five. Voluntary.
Increase what medicare can charge at its upper limit.
Charge 3x for 100k+ earners.

The reason I don't want free healthcare for all is that I can already tell you what will happen.

Healthcare cost for me will increase because I will have to pay more for others.

And...

There quality of my healthcare will go down. People won't be seeing doctors anymore. They will be seeing nurse practitioners.

You want to talk about a group of incompetent people who know next to nothing? Look no further.

Anyways, I already pay for enough people's healthcare as the system in run currently. I don't need to pay for even more free shite for people.

We have the finest quality of healthcare providers on Earth.
No wealthy or important person smuggles himself/herself out of our country to get that lifesaving operation in Canada ... or Sweden or anywhere else. The opposite happens.

A big hit on our cost is pre-generic pharmaceuticals - which the companies do want to maximize as cash cows - I don't deny that. BUT, this ends up being a boon as a drug that is name brand and $$$ today, becomes dirt cheap down the line. If you were to take that away, you're taking those drugs away from humanity.

The convoluted system of separate insurance entities - state-by-state - (and, full disclosure, I'm a big state's rights guy, but not on this issue - why? They've failed - bigly) - if we just let insurance companies compete across state lines, that would drastically reduce costs. We would probably still be the most expensive in the world, yet well worth it and competitive with Switzerland and Norway at that point.

You think Health insurance companies are a monopoly? Humana, BC/BC, Aetna, etc. are all competing with each other.

What YOU people are proposing is a monopoly - single payer (meaning the government) - DMV quality care and government prices.

Offer smaller catastrophic overage policies. A 25 year old doesn’t need a policy the will cover a colonoscopy. Not to mention that a male doesn’t need paternity.

We already have that - it's called private insurance and then Medicaid.

And the quality of care in the Charity system was worse than the VA.

some state legislatures permit the rape of the public. Letting rape artists whose level of product is rejected in the northeast and west is not a civilized choice.

Medicare eliminates that evil.

Once medicare for all available low cost for profit insurance will go out of business.

I say let the well to do pay their platinum plans and all that comes with it.
My housemates cousin is a columbia u hedge fund operator. He pays twice what most make for his 4 person plan. Its like paying for a movie ticket to him.
His main.house in san rafael is an enormous castle.
A private space in back.

They have an estate/farm in mendocino.

Condo in panama.

Their damn dog gets vet care few humans even dream of.

Let those people have their platinum plan.

Do you even know how much fraud and abuse takes place under Medicare?

Yeah, let’s make it even bigger.
