So what exactly is the main argument against universal healthcare
Posted by Powerman on 11/2/19 at 2:34 pm21226
I have a tough time wrapping my head around why people support the status quo in lieu of other alternatives
Our current system is by far the costliest in the world and it is certainly not the best system.
If you defend the current system please tell me why

$52T

If you think healthcare is expensive now, wait till it's free.
Yeah. Just ignore the graph proving that we already have the most expensive healthcare system in the world by a wide margin
Nothing to see there right

Because you have to sacrifice availability and/or quality to offer affordability.
Also there are changes that can be made to our current system to improve outcomes that don't involve getting the government more involved and making everything worse.

Cost and potential decrease in number of caregivers results in loss of quality of care.
When cardiologists, gastroenterologists, nephrologists, radiologists and neurologists are forced to care for patients at govt rates their numbers will decrease.
The wait for services will become a problem for many. If you had a family member with cancer, would you be cool with a 6 month wait for MRI/PET scans?

What drives in innovation, research and better facilities with cutting edge techniques and equipment?
Tell me something you believe the government runs/manages really really well and surpasses the capabilities of the free market driven competition.
Who pays for nationalized healthcare?
Why is it okay that half of this country doesn’t contribute financially and the other half is held accountable for every bill?
If I’m not paying a dime into the system I benefit from, why would I vote any other way than nationalize it ALL.
That seem right to you?

Because I have a very hard time paying for some random persons free crap.
That, and I have a very hard time with government telling people how long they would have to wait for surgery, treatments, etc.
Add to that that I have a very hard time with anyone telling me / forcing me to pay for some random persons crap.
So yeah, frick socialized medicine and anyone who actually falls for the notion that it’s better.

I've proven this argument is essentially garbage
We already have the most expensive system in the world and it's not even close

That forcing higher taxes upon large segments of the population to pay for medical services for other people is not only immoral, but unconstitutional.

Well, $52T for one thing.

Except, of course, that it is.
Do you envy the VA Healthcare System?
Does the government run the Post Office and SSI programs efficiently?
How about Medicare and Medicaid?
Why do you support More Government when the intent of the Constitution is small government?
Why do you hate freedom?
