There are twice the mds per capita. The dutch mds make half what ours do.
They can start practice debt free if they work a couple years in state system.

As a citizen of this country I believe no citizen should ever be denied access to healthcare, however if you cant pay, then tough.

That's quite obviously a dumb conflicting statement.

Ding, Ding, Ding!

Not to mention that the old saying "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" is spot on yet no one seems to follow this. Who (except a small portion) in American society is eating healthy, consistently exercising, getting appropriate screenings, controlling life stress, & saving money for when there actually is a medical emergency?

Everyone has their hand out for health dollars while holding a cigarette in the other and a triple cheeseburger in their mouth.

They spend dick on their military, which gives them spare cash for free berets and poop-porn videos. . .or whatever they do with it.

So what exactly is the main argument against universal healthcare

1. Cost - Medicaid for all would cost more annually than our entire current federal budget. Which means taxes would have to be doubled, and then some. Which means the productive members of society get even more burdened paying for leeches.

2. Do you really want the government deciding whether or not to approve costly medical treatment if you got sick? Especially if you’re older and have retired and no longer contribute to the tax base?

3. Nothing the government has ever done has been done more efficiently than private sector

4. Our current medical expenditures are the highest per capita because we have an unhealthy population. Look at obesity rates for the US compared to Europe. Government taking over healthcare isn’t going to fix unhealthy life choices

there is a difference.
High end medicine in usa is #1.

The dutch system has a higher floor for "everyman" hence the longevity.

While I am no advocate for socialism, there is a place for a 2-tiered health care model.

One that is privately funded through insurance and out of pocket and a free charity system run by nonprofits and government funding.

Ironically, that was how most health care was done in Louisiana up until 2000’s.

Yep, and I worked in it. The fraud & abuse was rampant and the wait times for crucial procedures, such as cardiac caths while patients were having active unstable angina, was heart-breaking. Why citizens of this country would want that on a large scale is beyond me.

Quality of medical care has zero to do with the Dutch living longer. They have a very healthy culture.

You proposed 3x cost for over 100k.

Then you use your hedge fund manager family member.

So you stiff a person making 105K with 4 kids and a mortgage on a condo because you are jealous of your cousin?

Wait, your housemates cousin? WTF? You are a sad sack for certain. Be better dog.

If universal healthcare is so great, why does your graph show people in countries with universal healthcare utilizing private healthcare?

The Dutch are also an extremely small population that is, uh, well... quite fricking homogeneous. Not just racially, but culturally as well.

They eat right, are active, and take care of themselves whereas Americans are far less active, eat worse, and are culturally and racially diverse as frick.

There quality of my healthcare will go down. People won't be seeing doctors anymore. They will be seeing nurse practitioners.

You want to talk about a group of incompetent people who know next to nothing? Look no further.

This is not true. Who do you think takes care of patients in the hospital 24-7? It isn't the doctors. When well experienced nurses transition to NP role (via education), they can be some of the best. If a new grad nurse rolls straight into NP role (without bedside/hospital experience), that may not be good. But as with everything (nurses AND doctors), it depends on the person as to how good or bad they are.

Cultural homogeneity helps with regard to medical training and general readiness.

Being white doesn't really matter.

Japan is number one in life expectancy. They are also among the most culturally homogeneous places in the world
