Can you ship naval assets across the country by rail or do you need water for them to float?

Who gives a damn about "Navel assets." They aren't producing anyone money, and the Pacific and Atlantic have their own fleets for both sides of the world. They can take the long way if it's necessary to change sides. Many of the ships are nuke powered, so they don't have to worry about fuel costs.

Oh, is it? All wars are about money and resources. Everything else is propaganda. My take is the "bottom line" that you will always get to, after you cut through all of the warm, fluffy, patriotic, feel good propaganda. Everything today is run by semantics, deception, and wordology. Most governments in the civilized world have covert agencies and psychologists/sociologists that create, control, and manipulate all propaganda.

Are the shipping fees through the canal exorbitant....or does Trump think the US should transport for free through the Canal?

I can remember watching the evening news with my dad who was a retired colonel in the army and served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam, said that we will have to go to war and regain control of the canal. Also had a few choice words for President Carter!

I thought they were making it bigger. Or at least the show I saw on either Discovery or National Geographic about building it bigger seemed to indicate that they were. Or maybe that was just a "what if" sort of thing

I watched a vid on YouTube about the fresh water lake which supplies the water needed to run the Panama Canal water levels have been very low, almost to the point impacting the operation of the canal.

China would like very much for the US to take back the Panama Canal.
What then could the US say about China taking back Formosa.

The Canal runs entirely on fresh water....or overwhelmingly on fresh water . It's a double edged sword . Fresh water keeps a lot of the mechanical costs to a minimum but it translates into higher costs of shipping in terms of keeping the salt water out and keeping water levels at an acceptable level. I know recently there has been concern that levels at Gatun Lake have been very low and it is impacting shipping.

It belongs to Panama. Buy the Chinese out. That’s how the Chinese are getting in, by buying it. If we can’t buy it, then use force.

If we are going to turn over the operation of the canal to the Longshoremen union, my vote is “Nay”.

Unironically a good idea to get it back or at least crack down on them hard. Benefits western ideology as a whole. Libs will cry, but its also in their best interest as well

China now has control of shipping between east and west hemispheres and China is our biggest security threat. It was naive short sighted and uninformed to give away the PC.

USA Should use the Carrot/Stick approach to entice Panama to give the PC back to the USA.

If we do nothing China turns the screws on us eventually.

Not sure. China didn't build the island of Taiwan, and the US controlled the canal longer than unified China controlled Taiwan.
