Actually, I would call that minimal effort. However, I could see how producing a birth certificate could be troublesome if you weren't born in the country.

Yes a birth certificate. So you have to get one from the which ever county registrar's office you were born in, depending on the state, pay their fees and wait to have it snail mailed to you. Took a month to get mine when I first registered and 150$

Passport - took 3 weeks to get mine. Book 110, card 30$

Right there is 290$ just to have the ID for the right to vote.

The whole basis is voting is a right. You don't pay to get a right to anything. If you do it is no longer a right but a privilege.

Uhhhh..... Math, much?

Regardless, what if the process were truly free?

Again, I give you 4 years to get this done.

We do have indications from multiple sources that voter ID laws as they're written in the US are disproportionately disenfranchising to minorities (sometimes intentionally, sometimes accidentally).

This is such nonsense. Minorities are not "disenfranchised." Getting an ID is the same process regardless of skin color. There are no special impediments for minorities. Making that claim is racist bc you assume minorities aren't capable of achieving the simple task of getting an ID. If it affects voter turnout then it's bc minorities simply didn't want to take the step to get the ID.

I'm starting to see why you may have a problem with the issue, since it seems like English is not your first language.

Your rationale is flawed. You want me to agree that, say, food is a privilege, since it has to be paid for? If so, then we are subsidizing privileges via the EBT program?

Really. I have to pay taxes to get a gun from my gun store owning rich shitlord buddy. They are taxed. They tax me so that I might exercise my rights afforded by 2A.

No. You don't have to have both. Just one. Reading comprehension is hard.

Why does literally every industrialized western democracy require ID except for the UK and US?

It is not minimal effort as LSUPat put it. It is an involved effort, a costly effort, depending on you income bracket. That was the only point I debated. Not that someone doesn't have years to get it done.

You don't pay for the right to bare arms, nor should you.

You don't pay for the right to say what you want, nor should you.

You don't pay for the right to peacefully assemble, nor should you

Give me one reason you should pay for the right to vote?

The argument is that those other things are fundamental rights, and voting is.

ABSOLUTELY

Voting is not always a fundamental right. Before anyone goes nuts, this is some in the weeds constitutional law crap that will get deep.

Liberals automatically assume minorities are too stupid to get an ID. They believe they don't know where the DMV is, they don't know how to use the internet, they do not have access to the internet,etc... The Voter ID issue is hilarious because liberals unknowingly expose their own racism.

You aren't paying for the right to own it are you, you are paying the agreed upon price which is taxed. now if you had to pay to get a piece of paper so you could go to your rich shitlord buddy and then pay him for a gun, your point would be valid.

Gun Permit = Not free

Peaceably Assemble = All kinds of permit fees for parades and events

I'll grant you the speak part, but I bet I could find gray area.

Voter ID will give us a metric to use in making that determination.

If you want to be proven right, you should be eager to put this tool into action.

Just think of all the "I told you so" moments you could have here.

You assume I am arguing for the minority. I am not. I am arguing for the bottom class to be able to exercise their God given, Constitutionally guaranteed right to vote, without infringement.
