That's not my point. ANYBODY can spend money, and if we just need to put money in circulation, give more to people who are truly hurt by all this. A couple of thousand dollars isn't going to cure the long term financial problems they're going to face.
Sorry, but to pass out money to non-productive members of our society who aren't going to be damaged at all by all of this, is just ludicrous. The largest
beneficiaries of this will probably be the drug dealers.

If they were essential for the function of society they would still be working.

And I never said I wasn't an a-hole. I'm just a high functioning and decently paid a-hole.

Why are these people getting stimulus checks?

I'll pay $1200+ in taxes on my paychecks in March.

I'll miss out on a $3,500 quarterly bonus because while we were trending above budget in January and February, the March numbers will drag us below the target because, get this, our business has slowed to a near standstill.

No one at my office has been furloughed.

So the essential businesses, the places that are keeping the tax dollars flowing in that are filled with middle class Americans...they shouldn't get a stimulus check?

Outside of the healthcare industry and those that directly service it, the trickle down effect impacts everyone, not just the waiters and bartenders and teachers. frick you for thinking you deserve a stimulus check anymore than me or the Nurse that's pulling 15 hour shifts with a bandana over her face. This is a lifeline to everyone that lost their job. It's a 1 month income tax break for me.

What i'm getting at here, is that's my god damned money in the first place

STIMULUS checks are for stimulating the economy - by spending them. Doesn't matter too much who receives the checks as long as they get spent. You are basically confusing disaster recovery and stimulus.

stimulating by purchases of funyons and lottery tickets.

This will become, or already has become the “new” thing everyone argues about.

Nope. This is not how wealth is created. It ABSOLUTELY matters what the dollars are spent on.

Otherwise... we could pay half the country to dig holes and the other half to fill them up, and we’d all be rich. That obviously doesn’t work because a dig-the-filled-up-hole has no economic value.

The same applies to most consumer goods. You buy a TV, but it won’t make you any wealthier. It will just end up in the... landfill filing in a dug hole.

There's alot of people still working that make less than $75k.

And alot of them probably provide more valuable services than you.

I agree, the checks should have gone out to everyone regardless of income.

I guess your success came without magnanimity, humility, equanimity, etc. Id rather have those things and make 74k than not have them and make $150k, but maybe that's just me.

Allow me to accept your apology on behalf of all the hard-working people who got advanced degrees and busted their arse to make a good living.

One of my brothers has a diploma and makes 300k.

Having a college degree has NOTHING to do with working hard.

I would say a foundry worker works 100 times harder than someone like me , who works in a climate controlled office sitting in a comfortable chair with an advanced degree.

Why do people with degrees look down on people without a degree ?

What about the 64 million Americans who worked a lifetime and are now drawing Social Security? If anyone needs the money it would be the elderly who in many cases are just scraping by.
