Welfare?
Disability?
Social Security?
Government employees?
Others that are still working?
Why are these people getting stimulus checks?
The entire purpose is to help people hurt by the shutdown. The above people are in the same situation they were in before.
Should have just been handled by the unemployment system, with increased amounts.
What a clusterfrick. I can't wait to see what other bullshite is in this bill. Hopefully our senators put some money in to replace Middleton Library, or perhaps a build a new PMAC.

You have to have income above the amount you would be receiving to get the credit, in the last version I saw.

STIMULUS checks are for stimulating the economy - by spending them. Doesn't matter too much who receives the checks as long as they get spent. You are basically confusing disaster recovery and stimulus.

Yes, they want ready cash in Americans hands so that they spend it immediately, in an attempt to make up for lost revenue across all segments of our economy
Its really not that hard of a concept. Similar to getting cash in your birthday cards. You didnt expect it, but you sure enjoy blowing it

They start reducing the payments for everyone who makes over 75k, phasing them out until anyone making over 99k gets nothing.

Allow me to accept your apology on behalf of all the hard-working people who got advanced degrees and busted their arse to make a good living.
To think, I could have been a deadbeat pos and gotten this one little check instead.

My brother, I'm not hating your success, nor the success of any other hard working individual. I can still get a chuckle out of reading through the complaint department, though.

People that didn’t miss a check are at least paying taxes still.

But they will be spending the money, thereby helping out a myriad of other businesses.

So anyone making less than 75k is a deadbeat piece of shite? Do you think you are better than people making less than 75k?

How are you going to stimulate the economy if everything is closed?

People who make $200k would be spending it as well.

Yeah, frick those other people and the burden as far as hours worked as well as medical risk. No worries that they may have to figure out childcare, or pay 80 dollars for toilet paper. You need that extra money to sit on your arse though.
Who cares you weren’t worthwhile enough to be retained, who cares you can’t save enough money to care for your family in exteme situations, you need your bon bons and cigarettes and you need them now.
