I understand that and I also know that the method of examination can often be more challenging at "lesser" schools.
Of course. But if that school is SUNO, for example, the teacher has to adjust his method of instruction to the average ability of the class, or everyone will fail.

This. If you raised her well to think for herself, approach issues critically, see through talking points, and to understand the very basics of what is wrong with Keynesian economics, she's going to be fine. If you're that concerned with her turning into some raging flaming liberal, send her off to school with some open-minded libertarian books, particularly those regarding economics. An ignorant "conservative" is just as bad as an ignorant "liberal". Neither know what they want, why they want it, or how the positions they support impact the world, but they both want to tell you that they're right and the other side is wrong and ruining this country.

she will have a ton of progressive shite wherever she goes, you have to let her find her own way in this world.
as far as Berry goes, we've visited there several times. It looks boring as hell.

So if she goes to Princeton and somehow comes out liberal -or perhaps more liberal than you'd like -there's something wrong? Don't you want her to form her own opinions?
If my kid gets the opportunity to go somewhere like Princeton, I'm not going to let politics get in the way. There have been conservatives come out of such places.
Bottom line. Assuming you don't have to pay full pop and/or go deep into debt to accomplish it, the value of graduating from such a place is hard to pass up.

I'd also venture that the quality of life in Princeton is pretty spectacular. It's an Ivy League college town in the middle of farm land, and hour from Manhattan and Philadelphia. It's a good spot to go to college.

I went to Princeton.....for a seminar. I really liked it.

If I had the goods to get into Princeton, I'd probably be trying to get into someplace like Duke or Stanford instead.

Yeah I don't get that either. I grew up with completely different opinions than my parents but they encouraged me to be my own person. If you try to deny her that, your relationship will suffer. Trust me.

If she's going into biomedical engineering for undergrad she'll only catch the progressive crap in general ed classes. A large percentage of engineering professors could care less about politics.

Personally, I'd send her to Liberty University. Same quality of education with none of the liberalism.

Yeah, I mean, how do you integrate politics into a class about microcontrollers?
The OP has VERY little to worry about here.

It goes back to the political divide in this country where both sides think the other is crazy. It's ok to have different opinions.
Listen to this guy, OP. You sound like a crazy person for trying to persuade your daughter from going to fricking Princeton due to differences in political ideology.

Now she's asking questions about Princeton. At least its the most conservative of the Ivies.
it's not bad...but the degree choice matters.
finance - Penn
math/science - princeton
law/premed - Harvard

goes much deeper than the classes you're involved in though, much of campus life will expose you to a variety of thought. Clubs, friends, campaigns, etc.

Rhodes is a great school school, but I'd honestly steer her towards Princeton unless you really wanted her closer to home.
Conservatives do exist on both campuses if that's what you are worried about. Let her be herself and figure it out on her own.

It's very subtle. You can tell the political leanings of a professor by the way he writes his for loops.
Conservative:
for (int i = 1; i < 5; i++)
{
//code here;
}
Liberal:
for (int i = 1; i < 5; i++) {
//code here;
}

Why is the OP petrified that the child might learn a different way to think than his? It's her life. Let her listen to what's given to her and she can make up her own mind.

I just don't want her to become a progressive militant lesbian brainwashed by the liberal elites of the Northeast.
If you want her to have opportunities you never did, wouldn't that possibly include being introduced to those who may have opinions that differ from your own? And for frick's sake, teach her to think for herself and make her own decisions and not take ANYONE'S opinion as anything other than opinion. Including your own.
