That's good to know. I'd love for my kid to go to an Ivy. Or Stanford. Probably just a good a chance or better of getting in one of those than UCLA or Cal.

yeah sometimes being a white person from the south going to an integrated public school will be almost as good as being an authentic minority. they're all weird in how they value that shite
my PSAT math score was off the charts, which is why i got shite from all the big schools

When you're finished residency you'll get headhunter mailings offering you jobs all over the country every week. But I understand your point.

i did in math and science. our gifted grouping had a really good mix of kids. some total nerds. some of the elite popularity level. lots of athletes. we had a competitive spirit in academics
now english? reading? frick...i was the guy who figured out how to work the system so we didn't have to read (thank you, internet)

Nice. Yea I think it was about 207 my year in LA. Yea, I'm pretty glad I wasn't a HSer in Connecticut

for some reason i'd imagine privates would be more likely if you're a non-asian minority
UCLA and U-Cal have plenty of diversity i'd imagine

Yea thats true. I guess I meant moreso I didn't want to be miserable living where I didn't want to for 3-7 yrs during residency. If you are a boss resident, you can get a job wherever.

Baby girl scored a 33 in 10th grade and came back with a 35 on the February test
Congrats!
You guys should make a trip up this summer. Campus is beautiful. Ton of area history (Washington crossed the Delaware not far from the Campus). If she's serious about applying she'll need to take the SAT and a couple of SAT subject tests as I recall. If she's a junior now, she really needs to figure the SAT subject test thing out soon, especially if she's coming off an AP class or two.

Geez we are like the same person. I always took math and science honors or AP. I even took independent study at LSU. But reading and english and social studies? Always not AP and I cut as many corners as possible.

No offense, but I'd rather not get into that

I hate to steal thunder...but, my baby's momma's baby (Mocha Bellacopter) is getting interest from BOTH Devry Institute and University of Phoenix!

I just ask because a relative of mine is the Dean of the med school. No offense taken!

This was one of my worst subjects in school. I really don't see the need for things like poetry, stories from thousands of years ago. There's really no practical need for it. I can't think of anything I do that has a use for it. Even when I concentrated on it, I still sure as shite wasn't interested in it.
I like math and science more because it's something that cannot be disputed and it is fact that you will use in life no matter what you're doing. It's basically the language of god.

we only had 2 AP classes by my senior year (2001). Calculus and English. took Calc. took Gifted, non-AP english
i did take Chem-2, which wasn't AP, but was harder than the first 2.5 chems at LSU (honors, too), from what i heard from my friends
i took for 1 semester, had a high B, and dropped the class so that i could have 1st and 2nd period off my 2nd semester senior year. that was my only non-A

the teachers were like "oh we know the answers form Cliff's Notes"
and i was like, "oh i have sparknotes, and 2-3 other sites that i can get chapter summaries, for free, in more detail...motherfrickers"
