Like what's better than a school shooter, a school shootout Mr Douglas the Earth Science teacher with the gun gets to room 12a he is for sure going to know who the "bad guy" with the gun is and not shoot the wrong person and when Mr Thomas the Phys Ed teacher shows up a minute later and there's 2 people shooting at each other he's gonna shoot the right person. Then when the SWAT team shows up there gonna know the bad guy has been shot and not kill all the teachers with guns. Seriously stop watching action movies and realise how fricking dumb it is for teachers to be armed

Lets assume your asinine situation actually happens. While the shooter is actively engaged in this wild west shootout....kids arent being systematically executed as he walks room to room. He is also distracting and delaying the shooter until law enforcement can arrive.

Even in your ridiculous situational gotcha...less kids are murdered

No it's not. There are plenty of other ways to address the problem. Arming teachers is one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard. I can't think of a single teacher I had growing up that would either want a gun, or that I'd trust with a gun. Not a single one of my teacher friends want to bring a gun into their classroom, even the ultra conservative ones.

Hmm I had a few back in the day, Vietnam vets I wouldn't hesitate to see armed.

I can think of 5 at least the wouldn't want to but would do it to protect their students.

No one wants to have to bring a gun to school for protection. Unfortunately, that want is just that.

So your answer is to just allow massacres to happen then because of what-ifs? Those of those teachers nor kids had a chance. Arming them with fricking slingshots would've been better than what they got
The answer is for the officer to do his job. The FBI to do their job. And for making it more difficult for the kid to get a gun in the first place.

You think people are advocating tossing teachers a Sig 9mm and saying "Good luck!"? C'mon.

Of course not. I bring it up as just one problem with the idea of arming teachers, and something that should be considered if we're seriously going to consider that stupid approach. It's way down the list of reasons why the idea is stupid though.

We arm pilots.. why couldn't we arm teachers?

Do you have a problem with simply stopping categorically announcing to everyone that they will NOT be armed? Why, if so?

so 2 or 3 people shooting is going to result in less people killed than just one. Seriously?

I would like to point out that the cop having training that the teachers will never have is sorta irrelevant.

The cop's failure wasn't based upon his training or lack thereof. It was based upon spine or lack thereof.

You can't train spine. Clearly, many teachers(and many humans in general) have more spine than that dude.

Thats because your ultra conservative friends are still leftist pussies. They are the cowardly types that take jobs as a resource officer and hide away like a bitch when they are called to act.

In a school shooting situation yes. I realize its asking a lot for you people to be rational but your ideal situation of the shooter just randomly feeling guilty and dropping his weapons before he shoots more people is ridiculously unrealistic.

There's no way to determine this.

Where are the shooting? Who is close? What round is being fired from what gun?

In an otherwise empty hall way? In a crowded classroom? With a shotgun? With a grenade launcher.

Sounds like the government failed. It also sounds like an endorsement FOR the 2nd amendment.
