Clearly disallowing sugar solves generational welfare. It's way too proud and luxurious growing up in poverty.

It's not about investing in education and creating a thriving economy for business owners to thrive with jobs that can break the cycle. It's definitely not about keeping people out of prison on stupid charges.... its the Cheetos and coke that's going to really impact societal change.

Sorry I care about how other people are spending my money.

Hey NoSaint let me have some money, I'm hungry.

I go buy beer with that money.

That wouldn't bother you?

I've yet to see someone say they shouldn't be able to buy these things you stupid frick.

They shouldn't be able to use FOODSTAMPS to buy it.

Use their own God damn money.

I remember when kids used to make fun of other kids by saying "your momma is on welfare".

Now it is completely normalized and destigmatized.......just the way the dimocratixes wanted it all along. Another valid reason for getting off assistance swept by the wayside.

Your logic is off base. These things are not exclusive to each other. It's not one or the other. This thread is about food stamps.

Just because I want food restrictions for food stamps doesn't mean I don't want those other things. They are all a step in the right direction.

get it- and I've been known to waffle a bit there and come to the conclusion that when it's incredibly small amounts of money it's really easy to say "you do what you think you need"

Just pulled a 2016 article about 2015 spending for a rough ball park benchmark (on my phone, and first to pop up so apologies if not perfect but I'm guessing close enough to spitball here).... Non healthcare or SS assustance programs were pegged at 362B, or 10% of government expenditures leaving 15B at about 4% of that.

So that's less than half a penny in that dollar going to junk food?

And then roll in the reality that even if I buy him a salad he can go trade that salad for whatever he wants... well, yea, I've stepped stressing over tracing every penny as long as you've built reasonable qualifications, and levels of assistance and a transition out

You mean like adding prepared good and junk food to the already existing "cannot buy" list?

The system is already in place. All that needs to be done is add shite food and junk food to the list of shite they can't buy with foodstamps.

try again.

Why include it with all gov't assistance? I'm sure we could find plenty of wastefulness and abuse in other gov't assistance programs.

Keying on food stamps, the article said more than 22% of food stamps purchases were for junk food. Quite a bit more than half a penny.

Pretty cold of you.
The health of poor people far outweighs any difficulty of "maintenance".

What are you, some kind of Hitler disciple?

I'd be interested in know what they consider "junk food". I'd bet that 80% is a more realistic number if you had a dietician looking through their buggy.

If you can open some sort of package and immediately eat without further prep then it is likely junk food.

I was thinking the same, let them get raped with taxes. That's what feeling human is all about.

Well, no it isn't.

Fresh food is... So if the study is comparing it to purchases of fresh vegetables and such, then it's misleading. If frozen and canned are included, then it is disturbing.
