and you get no shots in rural America…unless you’re the meth kingpin.
Statements like these from urban-dwelling Americans make it hard to have any sympathy whatsoever for anyone who chooses to live in a large city.
It was a retarded statement, but most absolutists are retardos. Materialistic, superficial people will never understand making sacrifices for a better quality of life and most of us don't want to be hyper consumers.
People pick their lifestyle. I don't need 200k to survive, nor would I ever want to have to make 200k to survive.
Resourceful people can make a life in a place of their choosing. Most people aren't resourceful.

That's a massive leap in logic assuming the average new Yorker lives alone and is fresh out of school. Also, making $144k/yr is not doing well?
I was responding to a person talking about how young people should be giving this a shot. And this isn’t about the average New Yorker, it’s about people living in 5000/month 1 bedroom apartments in Manhattan. And yes, a person making 144k a year, paying 5k a month in rent, is gonna be pretty good damned broke after paying for all the other shite that goes with living in Manhattan. They’ll have about 8-9k a month after tax and be spending over 60% on rent.

I’m reacting to the idea that no one can fathom why so many people are moving to the cities. It is indisputably where the money and the jobs are, especially for aspiring professionals and entrepreneurs. If you’re not interested in that and/or make a lifestyle choice, no sweat.

Oh for Christ’s sake.
First of all, leaving your home to try for opportunities to better yourself in a new place is making sacrifices.
Also, attributing nobility to your chosen lifestyle, and yours alone, is kind of lame.

It’s already been pointed out to you that there aren’t many who do this, and those who do are generally the ones who can afford to do so.

If they are only earning 12k a month pretax and paying 5k a month in rent, then probably aren’t doing real well and don’t have a lot left for student loans.
Uh what

Yeah, when I think about stacking millions I think rural america, where all the capital is located.
I love that you continue in stupidity even when you know that you’re stupid but you’re pot-committed to your “I’m sophisticated and you’re dumb” schtick. No one is jealous of your soulless existence. The emptiness you feel inside isn’t going away.
