Maren Morris is a militant feminist, pretending to be a country music artist. When you understand the damage done by militant feminism in our culture, then you can understand the poison (aka bull****) swirling around in this young woman's brain.

Authentic Country Music is not entertainment suited to people with screwed up values and bitchy personalities.

Now Maren Morris, go away.

More accurately Morris is someone no one has ever heard of and no one should care what she has to say

And country music hasn't really been "conservative" traditionally. That's more of a recent adoption.

Does this mean the Twang in her voice has always been fake?

I tell you upfront - I'm a George Jones - Merle Haggard - Patsy Cline country music guy, with a strong liking for David Allan Coe (in his prime).

IMO Country Music went Hollywood the night Dwight Yoakam sang between those two tall long-legged showgirls on Ed Sullivan (I believe it was Ed Sullivan). Yep, that's the night Country Music went Hollywood.

I'll say it. David Allan Coe's 'The Ride' may be the best 'hard' country song ever recorded. Followed by 'You Never Even Called Me by My Name'. Pure country right there.

Sad to see what passes for country music today.

not defending maren morris because I think she's a loon, but she's not exactly a nobody that "no one have ever heard of"

quote:

American singer–songwriter Maren Morris has won over 30 awards and has been nominated for over 90 awards. She has received five awards from the Academy of Country Music. Her first accolade from the association was for New Female Artist of the Year in 2017. She later won Female Artist of the Year two times in 2020 and 2021. Her single "The Bones" would also win Song of the Year from the association in 2021. Morris has also won five awards from the Country Music Association, beginning with New Artist of the Year in 2016. She later won Female Vocalist of the Year in 2020, while "The Bones" won Single and Song of the Year. Morris's single "My Church" won one accolade from the Grammy Awards and she has since been nominated several more times from the program. Morris also has won and been nominated for awards by Billboard, Country Music Television and the American Music Awards.

just because YOU don't know who she is, that doesn't mean she isn't quite popular.

now, with all that being said, I think her thoughts on "country music" are ridiculous and very short sighted. To me this is her shitting on the pop country market that she has been in while making her exit to pop music ala taylor swift. her last album basically alluded to it by using more pop production, and less traditional country instrumentation.

show how the genre has become embedded in the culture wars.
Newsflash for her: every fricking genre of music has artists who write songs with hot button social or political issue messaging in them.

Several very famous rock bands wrote anti-Bush songs in 2003-2008. Didn’t Eminem have some song bashing Trump? She isn’t complaining about those genres having songs that got political

She’s just mad that country is the only genre where an artist would have the guts to make a song with pro-conservative lyrics since the fanbase is almost all middle of the road or to the right. Not nearly as many liberals among the country fanbase to cost artists money if they boycott over a pro-conservative song.

This depends on your definitive of "conservative"

While from the English ballads onward country music had dealt w/subjects like adultery & murder, it would always uphold traditional values

There is a streak of working class populism in country music, from '16 Tons" to "Take This Job & Shove It". But this was well in the rugged individualist tradition rather than any revolutionary call to arms.

Never heard of her. I figured she was a black or Hispanic doing country. But she's white and over here acting like she is being discriminated against.

But her husband is a country music singer and song writer who's not leaving the genre. Another rules for thee, not for me lib. Go figure.

A good donging would cure that sass. By the davymeister. I offer that service for a minimal fee, and most of my business comes by way of previous client referrals. “Girls, y’all need to call davy….get it done.”
