Negative. The Fed doesn't have the authority to tell States what to do in this instance. The EPA can be added to the Department of Energy and the Department of Educations as full blow unconstitutional Fed agencies that should be immediately abolished.

Law enforcement and prisons. As Louisiana has shown a private for profit prison system in cahoots with the local sheriff etc leads to lots of problems.

They wouldn't have to if more stats weren't lazy fricks and regulated their own resources better.

There's probably one area where government needs to move in and replace the private sector - prisons. Private prisons are predicated on being full to make money. Bad, unconstitutional incentive.

You had several bad takes in your post. First, the National Parks are nice, but they are natural; the Feds didn’t build them. Private contractors could run those parks and you’d never know the difference, except it would be cheaper.

Also, the quote above about prisons belies the facts. Our country is not over-incarcerating people. On the contrary, we have DAs letting violent criminals go free, like the one who just murdered that woke CEO girl. If we find that a privately run industry has poor incentives, then we should change the incentives not let the behemoth state run it.

Would Blackwater be susceptible, without obstruction, to oversight by entities associated with any duly elected officials? Would there be any oversight access “by the people?”

We are end stage Rome, might as well copy their use of mercenaries.

Serious long term answer? Absolutely not. They would immediately become one of if not the most powerful and influential entities on earth and even with benevolent 1st gen leadership I don’t see how you would keep them under civilian control over the long haul.

But from a “who would win” standpoint, given equal resources and access to US tech they would destroy anything in their path due to more efficient resource allocation and non-political talent identification, promotion and retention.

Example: The F35 wouldn’t exist and it’s replacement would be better, more reliable and far less expensive.

You criticize someone for a bad take then you post this idiocy? DA's are not in charge of the prison system. In fact, allowing private prosecution might be the one solution that would be for the best, especially when dealing with corrupt cops or public officials.

I don’t know of one civilized country that doesn’t have an aviation authority.
All European countries have their own authority plus an organization named EASA that governs all member countries.

Well thankfully we aren’t part of Europe. Privatizing is always the best option.

You don't allow such an Army in the States. You keep an army like that at your foreign bases. Only State Militias are allowed in the US States in that situation and are under command of the States for the most part. You control the foreign stationed units by mixing them up with new officers, transferring them to different theaters from time to time, and never allowing them to return to the US as a unit.

I encountered some really nice, knowledgeable rangers in my travels in the west last year. If I feel bad for anyone in this mess, it’s them.

I'll be honest...I didn't know that was still a profession

It’s actually a pretty profitable profession both in government and the private sector. My background was geospatial analysis but as years went by I just found myself enjoying the Carto side of things
