Too many children shot playing with guns. Maybe teach them starting in kindergarten. The NRA has the Eddie eagle program but I dout if they would ever use that. teach them if they find a gun not to touch it and tell an adult.

of course kids should be taught that, but that takes "common sense". A lot of people think "common sense" means that guns need to be banned.

Considering it's a fundamental right that we all have. Yes. They should learn why the right exists and how to safely handle firearms in a controlled environment.

Damn good suggestion. Never heard this suggested before for schools but it makes perfect sense.

They use to. We had Outdoor Education in 8th Grade back in 1983, Dry Prong Jr. High. I remember we went though gun safety & shooting, archery, compass reading, animal track identification, plus other courses.

We shot BB guns and bows & arrows on campus.

We would also attend 4-H camp each summer and participate in their shooting events. Archery, 22 rifles and shotguns. Got my Hunter's Education card a camp one year. Still carry that beside my hunting license.

Are you crazy? Guns have magic powers. If kids see guns they will be mesmerized and the guns will cast a magic spell on them converting normal happy peaceful kids into mass murders. Those things are powerful man.

I don't see why the hell not. We have classes that teach you how to drive, how to cook, how to make things from wood, etc. Why not teach gun safety to those who are interested?

We took hunters ed and shot skeet on school property while all our classmates watched in middle school. No gun deaths form our class so far.

Damn, i thought i was the only person to do this. People look at me sideways when i discuss this class... granted 10 years later and in florida. Got my hunter's safety card, which meets a prereq for the ccw here. Pretty win-win if you ask me. Took it in 10th grade, but sounds exactly like my experience.

I went to Dry Prong High for three years and graduated at Grant High.

Guns doesn't have to be banned but there needs to be stricter laws. In Germany, anyone under 25 who tries to purchase a gun must pass a psychiatric evaluation. In Finland, people are only allowed to purchase guns if they are active members of a regulated shooting club. They also have to pass an aptitude test and go through a police interview. In France, handgun license applicants must have no criminal record and pass a background check that considers the reason for their gun purchase. They are also evaluated based on their criminal, mental, and health records. It would be nice if just a few of these laws were implemented.
