Can we afford to increase government spending on a program that could be developed to practice shooting down comets and asteroids out in outer space? This would be good practice and help in developing technology that could have benefits to national defense as well. It could also be a source of national pride (were we able to achieve such a feat) and help in healing the political divisiveness that permeates American society.

No it should be slashed. We're $22 trillion in debt.

We should be spending more on innovations that have multiple benefits like NASA vs. Welfare which encourages people to stay out of the economy and produces only basic goods.

Then no.

Yes.

Only socialists and socialists who think they are libertarians would disagree...

Comes at an expense (friggin slash something else)... imo... huge value add to the youth/teens/Millennials and even Gen Xers to inspire many positive values and inspiration for future innovations.

I think so, but then again I am not objective when it comes to this topic because I work on NASA buildings. As a contractor I want more NASA/Army/FBI buildings to bid on.

Total Federal spending is 4.5 trillion. NASA spending is 21 to billion.

Cutting NASA’s budget would be less than a drop in the bucket. If you’re talking cutting spending, it has to be military, Medicaid, Medicare, or social security

I believe NASA should be given as much as they deserve.

The innovations from the space program are unheralded. Not many people look at velcro and think about where it came from

We should be spending more on space travel and exploration. Not being back to the moon since the 70s is a travesty.

Ditto those fancy military flyovers during government-school football games.

You're speaking to a libertarian, he agrees with you. When did you become a conservative?
