Define in their terms what Evangelical means?

Apparently it includes Jehovah’s Witnesses, which hammers home my earlier question/point. I don’t think it really has a definition, it typically just means “they’re Christians and more conservative than I am”. In this instance it doesn’t even mean that.

Corkscrew logic.

Looks like you just wanted to state your encrusted opinion, but screwed up the premise you concocted in your hurry to get to your punch line.

It makes no sense. How does them bitching about continued invitations show that it is not the behavior that is offensive. If they are bitching about the behavior, does it not follow that it is offensive (at least to them)?

It's their existence she finds offensive.

There's your opinionated opinion - which has nothing to do with the premise you constructed - logically or otherwise.

I would never let my 5 year old girl be friends with a child whose mother writes for Slate, so I can semi-empathize with the author.

No. Don’t let her play with evangelists. They are evil.

Only if both sides want it. That doesn’t appear to be the case these days.

Now replace the word 'Evangelical' with 'Muslim', 'Buddhist', or 'Satanist'. Those types of headlines will never exist out of fear of offending these other faiths, yet they single out Christianity.

Let's ponder that for a moment.

This is a big part of why I believe we are near the End Times. The 'dominant culture' (media, social media, etc) in America would never say these things about Muslims, Satanists, tranny pedophiles, etc. It's very obvious the country has specifically turned against Christ, hard.

If the family were Muslims or kiddid diddlers, they wouldn't bat an eye.

Frank isn't wrong. Had they continued to invite them after they declined, she would then bitch that they were "forcing their fierce Christianity" on them.

It is Ok. We all know what Frank said is correct. If you and your ilk had your way, those of us you hate would be fleeced and jailed tomorrow.

Sounds like religious family got distance first?

"making it clear we weren’t interested"

Sounds like they laid down the law to the churchgoing family to me. Sucks for their child, but I also remember what Jesus said about such folks.

“If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave that house or town.

Probably because you lack the social graces to politely decline, instead of "making it clear you weren't interested".

I'm an atheist with many fairly religious friends and acquaintances, they tend to be pretty cool so long as you don't shite on their belief system - you know, just like anyone else would.

It is because satan is the ruler of this physical world. The Bible tells us that in no uncertain terms.
It is only natural that when God is pushed aside in every aspect of modern society, that satan moves in to fill the void with evil.

Evangelical has a definition. She wanted to use it in her article even though it didn’t apply.

Find a better place to make your freshman-level logical argument.

Two things:
1)Slate is hot garbage.
2)Christian families don’t really want your genderless, Godless, immoral worshiping of the state- influencing their child.

My ten year old daughter was forbidden from going back to a friend’s house because her parents saw my daughter wearing a Harry Potter t-shirt. I guess they are a big evangelical type and Harry Potter promotes witchcraft. We didn’t know.
