Fox "Democratic Party has left me"
Westmoreland County Sheriff James Albert declared on Monday that he felt disenfranchised with the Democratic Party and was changing his affiliation to the Republican Party.
“As a lifelong public servant and member of law enforcement, I have not left the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party has left me,” Albert, 70, said, according to Trib Live.
“It was a really difficult decision and I’ve thought long and hard about it, but I feel I stand for the ideals of the Republican Party platform more than the Democrats today,” Albert said.
Commissioner Gina Cerilli, a Democrat, admitted she is surprised with the political move. She and Albert campaigned together frequently in 2019.
Cerilli countered, arguing that “[i]f he says one of the reasons he is changing parties is because of violent acts that occurred elsewhere around the country, his reasoning has no bearing on Westmoreland County."
Cerilli added she is surprised Albert “would turn his back” on the union support “he sought and enjoyed over the years when he ran for office.”

The union support has probably changed parties too.

We need people like this to start switching parties, and being loud and vocal about it. We shouldn't denigrate them when they do.

I can't for the life of me understand why anyone who is involved in the policing profession would be a Democrat right now. That party has declared open warfare on police.
I don't care if you are a chief or a young patrolman in the union.

Western PA is turning redder. Going to be lots of tension between the western and eastern part of this state in the future.

Westmoreland County
I used to live in Westmoreland County in the Greensburg -Delmont - Murrysville area.
It's not a blue county by a long stretch. Very deep Trump country with a higher gun ownership rate than Pointe Coupee Parish, Livingston Parish, or Ascension Parish in Louisiana. It hasn't been a Democrat stronghold in at least 10-12 years.
ETA. Wonder if I can vote by mail there.

The fact that Gina Cerilli nor Sheriff James Albert never re-thought the deranged nature of the Democratic Party from approx. 2014 to mid-2020 is the most telling part.
How are more people NOT waking up to the absolute IDIOCY of being a Democrat in modern times? Serious question?

I bet you most of those members voted for Trump over Killary.

1) He has aged enough to understand reason.
2) He is old and realizes that he won't be getting into heaven if he supports Dem ideology.

I’m glad, but seriously, what took him this long to figure out he was more closely aligned with the conservative viewpoint?

Just like Virginia right now.

Most of the union leadership is likely Dems, but not the case with rank and file members.
I live near the GM plant in Spring Hill, TN. During last year’s strike, I talked to so many who expressed their hatred for Mary Barra, who was Obama’s hand picked new CEO of GM. Most of them are MAGA to the core and several said frick what the union leadership says. They love Trump.
