The US Supreme Court on Monday ruled 5-4 that federal law does not require mail-in ballots to be received by Election Day.

The lawsuit challenging the mail-ballots was filed by the Republican National Committee and the Libertarian Party of Mississippi.

Conservative Justice Amy Coney Barrett wrote the majority opinion and said state laws allowing mail-in ballots to be counted after Election Day do not conflict with federal law.

Chief Justice Roberts joined Amy Coney Barrett and sided with the liberal justices.

This ruling seems to indicate that Congress could require mail-in ballots be received by Election Day, they just haven’t done so to date. This decision actually justifies the SAVE Act.

Or if the state decides to just ignore that part (they will).

Need to try and pass a law requiring specific ballot paper to be used and specific envelopes.

Why would anyone trust a postmark though?

That's a system outside of the control of an election.

States' rights. We are a republic of states. Although I think some of these states' policies are corrupt and wrong, I believe the states need to fix their policies, not the federal government.

I don't have a problem with this IF they are postmarked before election day.

Huh?

States are corrupt and wrong and you’re expecting the corrupt, wrong states to fix their process?

He's pretending that is the goal so that his actual goal (corruption and election rigging) is accomplished.

States send representatives who decide how the Federal Government functions. Tallying ballots weeks after Election Day can change the balance of power. It’s a Federal issue because it affects the Federal Government.

A state government does not have the right to defraud its voters.

It does set a precedent at the highest level so that if the republicans catch them doing it, instant injunction and nullification of the process. This was not a huge win, but it was a small win. Republicans still have to be vigilant.

What if you ran off a ton of ballot envelopes prior to an election, and then filled them out as needed?

I don’t believe that a postmark (or signature) are required in Pennsylvania.

Yes.. There was a ballot counter that testified that they had received MIB that were not the same bond of paper that official MIB were using... I believe she said that it was cheap loose leaf paper...
