Republicans should offer a 2-year extension.

Just do the fricking Nuclear option and be done with it. Dems will do it anyway when they are in power.

But most people have already received their increases, unless they were going to be worse without the credits.

Schumer’s proposal calls for Democrats to agree to pass a so-called clean resolution that would provide short-term funding for government operations.
In exchange, Schumer said, Republicans would agree to a one-year extension of existing enhanced tax credits that are used to reduce the cost of health insurance purchased on Affordable Care Act marketplaces.

I love how they say...."in exchange," as if the government re-opening is a death blow for Dems. They are going to soften that by receiving the 1-year Obamacare extension.

Good luck expecting Dems to give up 2 years of leverage.

I thought when we saw mccain thumb down the repeal and replace of ObamaCare we were told it was the cats meow?

So the democrats want their midterm elections saved by paying off their undocumented democrats and voters seeing astronomical ObamaCare prices?

It's not about the people it is about the democrats power. And the Rs will bow.

Which they would then use as midterm messaging. “If you vote R, your healthcare is going away”
EXACTLY!

The 1-year deal kicks the can right on top of midterms so they can be used as ammo, and continued permanently if the Dems gain.

The marxist game is to gain in increments that can then never be taken away.

Edit…actually nevermind. Didn’t think about the Mid-terms next year. This is a no go politically.

You might be thinking of this backwards

If the subsidies expire before the mid terms you'll see a blue wave IMO

NO. Give them nothing. They own this shutdown and the messaging should be that until they cave.

I’m fine with this if they spend the year coming up with a better alternative that will legitimately lower costs.

Nuclear is the way to go. We have the House, Senate, and the WH. Go full bore for the next 3 years, pass everything with or without Dem support, because the second they get back in power, that's EXACTLY what they will do.
