SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco police will stop responding to neighbor disputes, reports on homeless people, school discipline interventions, and other non-criminal activities as part of a police reform plan the mayor announced Thursday.

Mayor London Breed released her plan Thursday morning.

Under the proposal, sworn officers will no longer respond to non-criminal activities and will be replaced with trained and non-armed professionals.

Something which doesn’t reflect on crime statistics IMHO.

So now, when I don't get double cheese on my double whopper, I need to call the police, and tell them the cashier is trying to murder me?

Honestly this is not a bad idea.

If we treated police more like we treated the FD and EMS we’d have a lot less brutality issues

I highly doubt you’ll see the SFPD officers upset about doing less work for the same pay.

San Francisco

So homeless literally sharting on the sidewalks.. is that now classified as something the police can be called on? It must not have been so much before.

Seems to me that non-criminal events equate to non-citizen events. So if your tax-paying neighbor vandalizes your car, he's brought to justice. If a fugitive from Guatemala does the same, "he's" not a citizen and therefore non-criminal. I know this is a wrong assumption, but that is how I perceive the Sanctuary City mentality. Perhaps I'm off-base.

This is going to last right up until these social workers respond to a homeless man complaint and the psycho street dweller stabs one of them 29 times. Or that “non-violent” loiterer pulls a gun and kills a couple of people sent to discuss his feelings.

All in all, this little liberal experiment is going to cost some lives.

I might be wrong but I feel like the psycho street dweller stabbing someone could be a reason an officer of the law responded to these types of calls on the first place.

While I’m at it, why is this even a problem? Maybe I live in a bubble (full disclosure - I do live in my bubble) but I’ve never heard anyone complain about a cop telling a bum to move along, or break up a domestic dispute, etc. Seems like people want “reform” for the sake of it

Which are tiny part of what they do. And changes nothing except gets more people (wives and GF's and neighbors) beaten, killed and injured and robbed and businesses broken and looted. We are so far past "counseling" it is laughable. The dems are instituting a "warlord" system where you pay for protection and the low bidder is in deep shite. So the mob is back in business.

"Godfather there's this man who comes by and asks for $25. every two days and I didn't have it once and my puppy was hanging on my mail box. Then my son was beaten and my car caught on fire."

If you look up crime stats you will find SFrancisco is the second worst city in the entire country for property theft, which includes cars.

People hardly bother to call the police when their car is broken into, and the police dont bother to respond.

They are just "pretending" to solve that issue with some social warriors.

I believe the "cat is out of the bag" in these liberal cities, the cops wont stop you, take what you want, including the streets.

Let them have it. Eventually these cities will beg John Galt to come back and run it for them.
