In the near future, this will be a violation of the Federal Anti-Racism Employment Standards.

Timeliness is viewed as a symptom of Whiteness

It really is.

I've got some relatives by marriage on Indian reservations. And they have "Indian Time" and "White People Time". And the Indians say that White People Time will kill you, that Indian Time is better. Kind of a Hakuna Matata thing.

Don’t you like how they conveniently left Asian statistics out of this article?

Their accreditation needs to be pulled, that is ridiculous and they are further setting up our future workforce for failure.

Retakes don’t bother me because you should be allowed to better yourself and if they want to incorporate that into the grades then it

This is a bullshite way of looking at things. There are few to no retakes in life. If you develop this train of thought in kids in high school they will be ok for a rude awakening in the real world outside of academia.

Life is stressful. Learn to deal with the lower levels of stress in high school to prepare for actual stressful situations in life. Again, setting kids up for failure.

I don't get why black people put up with that.

I don't know why any parents put up with it. How does this prepare children for the future.

Leave no child behind. HA! This leaves them all behind. All school systems have become arse-HO!

This smells like Critical Race Theory...how much public funding they gettin?

My very first thought about this nonsense.

There are a lot of connections to federal funding. ALL OF THEM need to be examined for Critical Theory infestation.

So they are encouraging students, many in poor areas with a lot of bad hombres, to skip school and hang out in the neighborhood? What could possibly go wrong? School used to be where working parents could feel confident their kids were in a “safe space” where they are learning and growing. It’s just terrific to see our public services shirking that responsibility.

Where were the anti racist policies when I was in school?

I would not have wanted them. I enjoyed learning. Therefore I got good grades. If you were a slacker and received the same grades I did, I would have had to fight even harder to get into college/post-grad. Since I am white, I probable would have ended up serving fast food while you would have failed in my current occupation.

Students will no longer be graded based on a yearly average, or on how late they turn in assignments. Those are just some of the major grading changes approved this week by California's second-largest school district.

This will
Prepare them for the real world .. they can claim racism for that too and never have to turn in projects or assignments or reports for work !

Standards based grading. Show that you know material at subjective standard at anytime is all that matters. Cumulative efforts are minimized. Performance minimized.

At a ideological level, I'm not opposed to all of this. It's how I went through college to an extent. I didn't pay attention for most lectures because I just wasn't a fan of most professors. I coasted through homework by either skipping or doing group work. Then I hunkered down and mastered the material on my own 2 weeks before midterms and finals. I actually got decent grades. I could teach myself better than most professors. And if I couldn't I'd get a tutor or something.

Now that was for a semi-adult driven to get his engineering degree. This thought process just doesn't work for school age children. And teachers cannot take on that extra workload to teach children at differing comprehension points throughout the year. And as a child of a teacher, I truly believe the teacher can help a student, but the teacher has nothing to do with whether a student succeeds or not. It's all due to family and personal drive. I seriously doubt the family and drive of a student who misses assignments, doesn't show up, etc. are the ones who are going to "catch up" later in the year to show complete mastery of the curriculum.

Does this apply to your doctor, nurse, or dentist? What’s the freaking point of grades then?

Because it’s in an educational setting. I don’t see what’s wrong with incentivizing people to circle back and learn from what they fricked up on. You know BEFORE they become a doctor nurse or dentist.
