Seems as if CNBC's article saying nothing to see here, all is fine, was to get out ahead of this third day absence.

Will this be a daily thread? Didn't they say she wasn't supposed to be back until next month?

I hope she is recovering, and takes this time to spend the end of her life with her family and friends.

But, but but... The hired doctor who hasn't treated her says she'll be back!

CNBC presumed she wouldn't be back for a month.

No 85 year old person should be able to hold any important govt job.

Eighty five. Think about that.

Okay, that settles it. The gigantic 2-day sale at Stein Mart had nothing to do with the Notorious RBG's absence. I hereby call for a full & thorough investigation.

Where's that darn Ruthie?

The woman is recovering from major surgery. Will we be having similar threads if Kav misses a few days with the flu?

Correct she will be back if she was 30 years old in 40 to 50 days! She is 85 so let's multiple the recovery time by 3 = 120 to 150 days she will be out at best.

Do you know of any precedent for sitting Justices 'phoning in' Supreme Court rulings? I don't and find it a bit weird that nothing I've seen discussing this with Ginsburg has mentioned any such. It's hard to imagine this has not come up before.

It is EXTREMELY strange that no one has said they visited her, she's doing well, she's anxious to return to work, etc. No photo has been taken of her showing she is recovering at home either.

This tells me she is in much worse shape than what is not being talked about for a reason.

Of course it has come up before. When Chief Justice William Rehnquist was battling thyroid cancer, he missed several arguments throughout the 2004-2005 term. He ended up voting in many of those cases and wrote the majority opinion in four of them. This right wing blood lust is just idiocy.

Maybe she did and maybe she didn't.

The ghoulish desire/obsession to keep an 85 year old invalid "working" seems a bit more so.

Taxidermy takes awhile. She has to look realistic when they wheel her back in.

Does she physically get around well? How does she climb steps and walk long distances? Those were both issues with both of my granmothers once they got into their mid-80's I couldn't imagine them having to work at that age.

Renquist jumps to mind, but it is probably not unusual historically.

In my view, oral argument is essentially unnecessary in a well-briefed case. Cases that reach SCOTUS are generally well-briefed.
